🔶 STEAM Day 🔶

Yesterday, students stepped into the roles of engineers and designers, collaborating across Foundation to Year 6 on various hands on activities that encouraged problem solving, sharing ideas, creativity and critical thinking.

Students worked together to design and build towers and bridges to see which structures would support the most weight. They also explored the concept of force through creating marble runs and catapults, testing and refining their designs along the way.

What an awesome STEAM Day we had!

Tuesday 19th May, Park Ridge Primary School opened their doors to invite the community in. Students searched classrooms, high and low, for a mystery letter, to unjumble a puzzle. The sausages were a hit. The Early Act Bake Sale was a delicious success and both Junior and Senior Choir were a delight to watch. The answer to the puzzle and two winning entries will be announced Monday, at assembly. Thank you to all the families for joining us.

🔹 Year 6 Community Engagement 🔹

On Tuesday the 5th of May, our Year 6 students were fortunate enough to be involved in a community engagement event facilitated by Rowville Police station. We welcomed 16 members of the police force to our school and were given a full school tour by our House and School Captains.

This was not only a wonderful opportunity to show off our school but also for our leaders to develop their confidence when speaking publicly. After the tours, the fun truly begun with all students participating in a games of Knock’Em Over against Rowville Poilice in our gym. All students represented our school in an exemplary manner and it was a fantastic opportunity for us to have some fun with these important members of our community.

Thanks again for Rowville Police Station for inviting us to take part!

🌸 Mother’s Day Afternoon 🌸

There was a lovely atmosphere around the school on Thursday afternoon as we welcomed our mums and special people into our classrooms for our Mother’s Day Afternoon.

It was wonderful to see so many mums and special people join us, and the students were so excited to share their classrooms and celebrate with you.

We hope you enjoyed the afternoon and had a very happy Mother’s Day.

⭐️ Year 1 Extended Day ⭐️

What an unforgettable evening for our Year 1 students! On Thursday, they had the exciting opportunity to stay late at school as part of their camp experience.

The afternoon was filled with a healthy afternoon tea, plenty of laughs and bubbles during a visit from Charlie Sillypants, and a classic sausage sizzle for dinner. To top it all off, they ended the night with a refreshing Zooper Dooper . It was the perfect sweet treat to finish a fun-filled night!

🧸Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal Fundraiser and Last Day of Term🧸

What a fantastic way to end Term 1! We had an exciting day, organised by the wonderful Miss McClure and the Earlyact Club. Firstly, the Earlyact leaders were busy selling teddy bear biscuits to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. Next, we celebrated the end of term by having a whole school teddy bear picnic, and the winner of the teddy bear competition was announced. Congratulations to Zoe!

We hope everyone has a happy and safe break and we will see you all for Term 2. ⭐️

🧡 Harmony Day 🧡

Last Friday, we celebrated Harmony Day, a special day dedicated to recognising diversity and embracing our differences! Students proudly wore cultural clothing or dressed in orange which symbolises unity and respect. Throughout the day, students from Foundation to Year 6 participated in activities together that encouraged inclusion, connection, and a strong sense of belonging.

One of the activities is being displayed at the art room. Come and take a look!

🟤🟡 Hawthorn Player Appearance 🟡🟤

The Year 3 - 6 students had an exciting visit from some Hawthorn players on Monday, including the captain of Hawthorn, James Sicily. The students asked lots of questions including:
- What inspired you to play football?
- What do you eat before a big game?
- What primary school did you go to?
- What is the most amount of goals you've kicked in an AFL game or in juniors?

Students explored what a day in the life looks like as a professional AFL player, and were also able to get some items signed!
