HNH Flashback!

For over 10 years, HNH has assisted Fijian heroes and community groups thank to our home heroes and the Australian High Commission, Fiji through the Direct Aid Programs.

A flashback to one of our greatest achievements working with so many to donate SO MUCH! In 2017, HNH donated over $400,000 worth of equipment which was presented in conjunction with the Australian High Commission, Fiji and The Ministry of Health, with a great video link below to that special day!

It's a great demonstration of why small charities like HNH are important and the reason that drives us to continue to this day!

Dr. Sofia delivers first aid training to the Matacawalevu rugby team this week.

As they prepare for this weekend’s tournament in Nacula, they’ve also stepped up as lifesavers learning CPR. Heroes Need Heroes has donated defibrillators acrosss Fiji since 2014. These skills and equipment could save lives on and off the field.

Heroes Need Heroes is proud to support Fiji’s National Fire Authority with the donation of 10 AEDs, made possible in partnership with Cellmed Australia.
These life-saving devices will enhance emergency medical care across the country’s ambulance fleet.

Special thanks to Dr. Sofia Ali for her tireless dedication, coordination and heart driven compassion and to Dr. Ilikini Naitini the Aspen Assistant Director of Medical Services, Ba and Lautoka Hospital for coordination efforts. Your commitment is saving lives.

Together, we’re helping build a safer, more resilient Fiji. 🇫🇯

The National Fire Authority is proud to announce the receipt of 10 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), which will be deployed across its nationwide ambulance fleet, marking a significant enhancement in emergency medical response and pre-hospital care services throughout Fiji.

This vital donation was made possible through the kind support of Heroes Need Heroes (HNH) and Cellmed Australia, who facilitated the provision of these life-saving devices at a discounted cost of just over AUD $10,000.

The NFA extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Sofia Ali, for her tireless dedication to improving frontline emergency health services in Fiji. Her contribution underscores a shared commitment to protecting lives and strengthening health outcomes across our island communities.

We also express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Ilikini Naitini of Aspen Medical, whose instrumental role in coordinating this donation and overseeing logistical efforts has been vital. His continued advocacy and hands-on support for Fiji’s ambulance services reflect a deep and ongoing partnership in advancing emergency care standards nationwide.

“These AEDs are not just pieces of equipment they represent hope, faster intervention, and ultimately, lives saved,” said the Manager Paramedics and Health Services Selaima Tuisavuna. “This donation arrives at a pivotal time as the NFA enhances its national ambulance capabilities.”

Indeed, the timing of this donation is significant, arriving just as 10 of the NFA’s Emergency First Responders return from successfully completing EMT-Level 1 training at the National Fire Agency Academy in Taiwan. Their advanced training, combined with these new AED units, will immediately strengthen the Paramedic Unit’s capacity to deliver rapid, life-saving care in medical emergencies.

As the NFA continues to evolve its Paramedic and Health services in alignment with international standards, partnerships such as this remain crucial to building a more responsive, modern emergency health system for all Fijians. The AEDs will now be incorporated into ambulances strategically located across the country, ensuring faster intervention in cardiac emergencies, where every second counts.

We encourage the public to take note that for any emergency, including ambulance services, you should call 910. This single emergency number ensures swift access to fire, rescue, and medical services at any time of day.

The National Fire Authority is committed to protecting lives and serving with excellence, and we welcome continued collaboration with health stakeholders, NGOs, and international partners in building a safer and more resilient Fiji.
