Once you send a deposit to a scammer, your money disappears, and so do they!
Paying upfront to an unverified seller is like flushing your cash straight down the toilet.
Protect yourself:
🚫 Don’t pay deposits to sellers you can’t meet
🚫 Don’t trust pressure tactics or ‘high‑demand’ pretexts
🚫 Don’t send money via PayID or bank transfer to strangers
Do this instead:
✅ Inspect items in person
✅ Research the seller’s profile and history
✅ Trust your instincts – if they vanish after payment, your money will too
Stay smart. Don’t let scammers drain your wallet.

⚠️ Scammers are impersonating Centrelink to steal your personal details.

If you receive an email claiming to be from Centrelink with a link to confirm your income or assets — don't click it.

Real signs it's a scam:
🚩 The sender's email isn't a government address
🚩 It creates urgency with a deadline
🚩 It threatens to stop your payments
🚩 It asks you to click a link to 'fix' the problem

If you're unsure, log in to myGov directly at my.gov.au — never through a link in an email.

Share this to help someone avoid getting caught out. 👇

If scammed, report it to us.

Avoid buying loose fitting nightwear that could catch alight and keep children away from open flames and heaters.

This is the first Federal Court case brought by the ACCC against an online marketplace alleging non-compliance with mandatory product safety standards. We allege the backpacks were missing the required button battery warning labels and Amazon AU had possession and control of the backpacks as part of its fulfilment by Amazon services for third party sellers.

Scammers rely on creating urgency using pressure tactics:
‘Pay now or the item goes to someone else!’

Take a moment to pause and check:
🔍 Does the seller have a genuine profile with a reputable selling history?
🔍 Do the photos look real?
🔍 Does the advertisement have strange photos or poor grammar?
🔍 Can you inspect the item in person before you pay anything?

Trust your instincts because genuine sellers won’t pressure you.

🚨 Baby bottle self-feeding devices are now permanently banned in Australia.
-
A permanent ban is now in effect on baby bottle self-feeding devices — products designed to prop or position a bottle so an infant can feed without someone holding it or supervising.
These products pose a serious risk of injury or death to infants, and are no longer legal to manufacture, advertise, or sell.

⚠️ The ban applies to any device that:
- Positions a baby bottle or teat for self-feeding
- Allows an infant to feed without adult supervision
- Holds a bottle in place as a substitute for being held

🛑 Businesses must not:
- Manufacture these products
- Advertise or promote them
- Sell or supply them in any form

If you've purchased one of these products, stop using it immediately.

For more information on the ban, visit the ACCC Product Safety website:

⚠️ Scammers are impersonating recruiters from major companies like Amazon and YouTube to steal your money.

Here's how it works:
📱 You receive an unsolicited SMS about a "job opportunity"
💬 You're moved to WhatsApp for more details
✅ You complete tasks and may even receive a small payment to build trust
💸 You're then asked to top up a crypto account with your own money to "unlock" more work
❌ Once you pay, that money is gone for good

Anyone can be targeted, but you're at higher risk if you're actively job hunting or looking for extra income.

If you receive an unexpected job offer via SMS from a number, you don't recognise and don't engage. Report it to us.

Attention restaurants, cafes, and seafood businesses — new seafood labelling laws are coming, and they apply to you from 1 July 2026.

Under the new rules, any seafood on your menu needs to show whether it's Australian (A), imported (I), or a mix (M). It applies to everything from a prawn cocktail to a seafood platter.

Swipe through the examples to see exactly how to label your menu items.
