𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸
This week is an opportunity to acknowledge the time, effort and care that volunteers across the country dedicate to their communities.

For our volunteers in CFS, and all other volunteers from around Australia; thank you!

This afternoon we were made aware by Adelaide Fire Communications that farmers were conducting broadacre burns in the area. In this particular instance, a lot of smoke is blowing over Theile Hwy.

We have spoken to the farmer to ensure the site is being properly monitored. This burn process is part of their annual land management process, and we can expect to see more of these burns over the coming days and weeks.

Drive to the conditions if in smoke, and as always, if a fire looks to be out of control or unsupervised, call 000 immediately.

Today is St. Florian's Day, a day dedicated to the celebration of firefighters on May 4th each year, on what has become known as International Firefighters' Day. So we send a special shout-out to all of our brigade volunteers to say thank you for all you do, including responding to the 100 or so emergencies each year, the weekly training sessions you attend to keep your skills sharp, the PR events you attend to keep our brigade strong, and the endless admin tasks you all complete so our brigade continues to function.

We extend our appreciation to all CFS volunteers and staff, our MFS colleagues, and firefighters worldwide. So take a moment to consider the phenomenal positive impact you all have had on individuals and their families and friends, by managing some of the hazards during the worst moments of their lives. Your positive contribution ripples across society and cannot be understated.

So, if you happen to spot a firefighter today, say thank you for the work they do - it'll mean a great deal.

The Fire Danger Season has officially ended for the Mid-North and across the rest of South Australia.

EPA laws now govern the burning off within townships and rural properties, with local councils providing oversight of these laws. There are EPA laws dictating where, when, what and how you are allowed to burn. Information on these laws can be found on the Light Regional Council's website linked below.

If you're planning a burn off, be prepared: clear a firebreak, have water on hand, monitor wind changes, and never leave the fire unattended — especially near scrub or timbered areas.

We can also expect broad-acre burning to commence in the area as soon as the weather conditions are suitable. Roseworthy residents can expect to see these fires in paddocks to control pests and weeds.

As always, if there is a risk to life and property, call 000 immediately for an emergency services response.
