Another structure fire 2nd alarm last night. Just after 11pm, St Marys and Ropes Crossing stations responded to a house fire near the corner of Glossop St and Forrester Rd, St Marys. With extra resources called, the fire was extinguished. The house suffered severe damage to a number of rooms.

Just before 3am this morning, both St Marys and Mt Druitt fire stations responded to reports of a house alight in Phoenix Crescent, Erskine Park. On arrival, the house was fully involved in fire with the roof and carport collapsing. The incident was upgraded to a 2nd alarm structure fire. Multiple crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with hose lines. The house was totally destroyed.

Just after 11am this morning, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 077 St Marys were called to Forrester Rd outside Maccas due to the road being flooded. They got to work with a Davey pump. Due to the large amount of water, both Ropes Crossing fire trucks also attended. The tanker was used to draft the water to another stormwater drain.

Once most of the water was removed, Penrith Council unclogged the drain with a sucker truck.

Crews from Ropes Crossing and Riverstone fire stations assisted the Rural Fire Service at a hazard reduction at Porters Rd, Kenthurst. During the day we spotted two Burtons Legless lizards (thanks Michael for the detailed identification).

Who's loving this warmer weather more than us.....the snakes are. This afternoon, we attended Kirsty Crescent, Hassall Grove for a snake under a car. Unfortunately the snake had been run over and had passed away.

A short time later, we attended a property in Piccolo Way, Shalvey for a snake behind the freezer. This beautiful diamond python was picked up, assessed and placed into a snake bag before being released into the Yiraaldiya National Park (Shalvey).

Fire+Rescue NSW has some stations such as Ropes Crossing, Menai, Blacktown, Regentville, Warragamba, Campbelltown and Bundeena that may have qualified snake handlers on duty.

If you see a snake and are concerned, stay away from it and call either 000, FRNSW stations, WIRES or a private snake catcher.

At 5pm yesterday, Fire+Rescue NSW responded to multiple calls for a building fire at St Marys Public School. First arriving crews requested further resources resulting in a 4th Alarm Structure Fire. Crews got to work wearing breathing apparatus and using multiple hand lines alongside aerial appliances, to contain the fire to the one building which included the hall and multiple classrooms.

Our thoughts are with the affected students and staff of St Marys Public School.

A long day at the hazard reduction yesterday at Wianamatta Regional Park. Ropes Crossing firefighters and the Rural Fire Service assisted NPWS conduct the burn. The day started with NPWS’s helicopter, Park Air 1, ensuring all kangaroos and emus were out of the burn area.

The hazard reduction was undertaken to reduce a large amount of fuel built up over the years. This will minimise the risk to local properties in the event of a bushfire.

NPWS are continuing to monitor any smouldering logs. If you have a concern and can’t see them in the area, please call 000.

Around 4:40pm today, multiple 000 calls reported a garage alight in Treberth Street, Colebee. First arriving appliance, CP32 Mt Druitt, found the fire had spread to the house and increased the response to a 2nd alarm structure fire. Multiple trucks responded. The fire destroyed the home.
