📸 Spotlight Moment: Colour Takes Centre Stage
There has been plenty of action – and colour – onsite this month, as some of the Denise Spencer Aquatic Centre’s most distinctive features have started to take their place.
Two large cranes have been busy across the site in the last two weeks, lifting shade sail columns and structures into position around the 50-metre pool, while installation has also commenced on the bright new water play features within the splash pad.
These are some of the finishing touches that will give the new Centre its character, transforming the construction site into the vibrant, family-friendly aquatic facility the community will soon enjoy.
And the fun doesn’t stop there – with the waterslide supports now complete and the slides being assembled offsite, installation of the four new waterslides is set to commence from early September. Watch this space!

📸 Spotlight Moment:
One of the facility’s most anticipated attractions is beginning to take shape, with the colourful waterslide components arriving in Roma and assembly now underway offsite.
Individual slide pieces are being joined into three-piece sections before being transported to the Denise Spencer Aquatic Centre, where they will be lifted into position and connected as part of the four-flume waterslide structure.
Meanwhile, preparations are continuing onsite, with the heavy-duty hold-down bolts being installed and formwork for the supporting concrete columns being prepared ahead of pouring.
This is an exciting step towards seeing the waterslides rise above the facility—and brings the community another step closer to enjoying one of the redevelopment’s standout features.

📸 Spotlight Moment: A New Generation of Water Play Takes Shape
One of the most exciting milestones this month has been the visible progress of the toddler pool and splash pad precinct. With the toddler pool shell now complete, attention has turned to the splash pad, where the blinding layer has been poured and cast-in water play elements are being installed ahead of the main base slab pour later in July.
For many local families, this precinct will become the heart of the new Denise Spencer Aquatic Centre. While the main pools will host swimming lessons, training and competitions, the toddler pool and splash pad will create a place where the youngest members of our community can safely discover the water through play.
As the precinct continues to take shape, it's easy to picture what it will soon become—a place filled with laughter, first swims, school holiday adventures and countless family memories for years to come.

📸Spotlight Moment:
The pace of progress at the Denise Spencer Aquatic Centre has become even more visible over the past month, with the facility rapidly taking shape now that major underground and structural works are complete.
Comparing aerial images from the end of April to the end of May highlights just how quickly the site is transforming. In only a few weeks, the entry and amenities building envelope has been completed, including final foundation and flooring works, er****on of both structural steel and lightweight steel and significant progress of the roofing works. The 50m pool area has also visibly advanced, including pool tiling works over 50% complete, and the grandstand and surrounding structures taking shape.
What has largely been a structural construction site is now unmistakably becoming a recognisable aquatic facility for the community. As more of the building emerges above ground, the scale and layout of the centre can now be fully appreciated from above — an exciting sign of the momentum carrying the project forward.

From early sewer diversions to stormwater, drainage, and the final fit-out, Roma Plumbing is managing a complex and critical package that spans the entire life of the project.
