Ourstanding Achievement for Archie!

Congratulations to Archie on an incredible performance at the Festival of Athletics in Townsville.

Competing in the Throws Pentathlon, Archie claimed 1st place overall, achieving personal best performances throughout the competition. He also secured gold medals in Shot Put and Discus, both with new personal best distances, and took 2nd place in Javelin with yet another PB!

To top off an outstanding meet, Archie won the Hammer Throw, breaking the games record not once, but twice, while also setting a new personal best!!

These results are a testament to Archie's dedication, commitment and hard work. With a busy training schedule and passion for athletics, it is fantastic to see his efforts being rewarded.

Well done, Archie!! We are incredibly proud of your achievement and look forward to seeing what you accomplish next.

Thank you to our AMAZING Volunteers!

The Rockhampton State High School P&C would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to support our show car parking fundraiser.

What makes this event so special is the incredible community that comes together to make it happen. Alongside our dedicated P&C members, we were fortunate to have support from school staff, current and former students, current and former parents, our chaplains, and of course our principal, Matt Newell.

Seeing so many people from across generations of the RSHS community working side-by-side is a wonderful reminder of the strong connections and school pride that exist within our school family.

Your time, energy and willingness to help have made a significant contribution to the success of this fundraiser, and we are truly grateful for your support.

Thank you for helping make this event such a success. Together, we continue to show what makes the RSHS community so special.

Instrumental Fanfare - 'Spirit of Fanfare' - Chamber Strings

The Rockhampton State High School Chamber Strings were also acknowledged at the Regional Final of Fanfare this year with a ‘Spirit of Fanfare’ award. This inaugural award is a discretionary honor designed to recognize and celebrate ensembles who represent the true heart of the Fanfare program, acknowledging the enthusiasm, dedication, and ensemble cohesion shown by participating students.

Creative Generation - Instrumental Fanfare Regional Finals - Concert Band

On Monday 8 June, the Rockhampton State High School Concert Band travelled to Gladstone to compete in the southern Central Queensland Regionals Finals of Instrumental Fanfare.

They performed their program of music well and were presented with an award acknowledging their selection as regional finalists. Students in the Concert Band have spent additional time rehearsing on weekends, in the weeks leading up to Fanfare, and this was evident in their playing.

Thank you to the families who travelled to watch our Concert Band perform in the Regional Final. It meant a great deal to have you attend and we were grateful for your support. Our thanks also go to Mrs Holbeck for the time and energy she puts in to rehearse the concert band and show our students what they can achieve. We also appreciate the time Ms Thomason gave to help organise and chaperone our students.

We are very proud of our Instrumental Music students and are grateful to the school for supporting us to travel to Gladstone.

This week all students at Rockhampton State High School will participate in a series of short Expectations lessons designed to build a shared understanding of the behaviours that support positive learning environments.

Across the week students will explore why schools have expectations, the difference between disagreement and defiance, how individual choices affect others, and the role personal responsibility plays in success.

Students will also examine how expectations support learning, safety and respectful relationships, while developing strategies for getting back on track after mistakes and taking ownership of their choices.

By explicitly teaching and discussing these concepts, we aim to strengthen student engagement, support positive behaviour and reinforce the ROCKS values that underpin our school community.

Congratulations to our senior students who have successfully completed MSL20122 Certificate II in Sampling and Measurement through Leichhardt Educations and Training this term.

This nationally recognised qualification provides a strong foundation for future careers in science, environmental monitoring, laboratory work and industrial testing. Throughout the course, students developed practical, industry-relevant skills including equipment calibration, soil and water sampling, GPA navigation and workplace risk assessment.

We are proud of their commitment and achievement as they take an important step towards exciting career pathways in STEM and industry.
