FRI 11th & SAT 12th SEPTEMBER 2026

Southside Aquatic Centre is hosting the Rocky City Spring Sprint Meet this Saturday 12 September. We're looking forward to welcoming swimmers and families from right across the region.

Here's what's changing so you can plan your visit.

FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER
50m Pool - closes to the public from 7:00pm while the timing equipment is installed.

Everything else is running as normal.

SATURDAY 12 SEPTEMBER
50m Pool - closed to the public all day. It reopens once the timing equipment is packed down, from around 3:30pm.

25m Pool - lanes 8 and 7 are reserved for the carnival from 6:30am to 3:00pm. Lanes 1 to 6 stay open to those participating in aquatic programs and general public access for the day.

Learn to Swim (indoor heated program pool) - running as normal.

General Public Access Hour (indoor heated program pool) - 3:00pm to 5:00pm.

Wetplay Area - open 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Poppies Café - open 7:00am to 5:00pm.

PARKING
The centre will be busier than usual on Saturday, so please allow a little extra time to park.

Splash is looking for lifeguards aged 16 and over to join our teams at Southside Aquatic Centre in Rockhampton and Yeppoon Lagoon.

From $34.96 per hour

Penalty rates apply for weekends and public holidays.
** Rates shown apply to casual Level 3 lifeguards. School based trainee rates may differ.

💦 THE WAIT IS OVER! 💦

Our Waterplay and Splash Zone is finally open again for summer from today!

Open from 9AM to 5PM, seven days a week for the next 252 days, right through until 23 May 2027.

The only days we will be closed are Christmas Day, Good Friday and Anzac Day.

Entry is only $3 per person, and children under two are FREE! 🙌

Planning to visit us regularly? Ask our team about an annual pass or annual family pass to make every visit even better value.

From early morning laps and poolside coffees to first swimming lessons and big “Watch me, Dad!” moments, we love sharing it all with the dads and father figures of Southside. 💙

Happy Father’s Day from the Southside Aquatic Centre team!

At Splash, we get to see fatherhood in a hundred little moments.

It is the dad arriving before sunrise for his morning laps.

The dad chasing excited kids through the gates with towels, goggles and half the house packed into one bag.

The dad watching from the sidelines, meeting a mate for coffee, sharing breakfast with the family or spending a long afternoon poolside while the kids make memories.

It is the dad encouraging one more lap, joining in the fun, volunteering with the local club or simply being the familiar face who always shows up.

And behind so many brave little swimmers is a dad who believed they could do it before they believed it themselves.

The dad who carried them into their very first swimming lesson.

Who sat on the pool deck through every nervous moment.

Who practised bubbles in the bath and celebrated two independent strokes like an Olympic gold medal.

The dad who stood at the edge of the pool saying, “You’ve got this.”

Then one day, “I’m scared” became “Watch me, Dad!”

These are the moments that make our aquatic centres, swim schools and cafés so much more than places to swim, learn or grab a coffee. They are places where families spend time together, milestones are celebrated and memories are made.

To the dads, stepdads, grandads and father figures across our Splash community, thank you for the early mornings, the wet hugs, the loud cheers, the quiet encouragement and every ordinary moment that means more than you realise.

For those missing someone special today, we know Father’s Day can feel a little different. You are part of our Splash family and we are thinking of you too.

🙌 NEW GROUP FITNESS TIMETABLE 🙌

Our new SwimFIT, AquaFIT and AquaFLOAT timetable launches Monday 28 September!

SwimFIT and AquaFIT
💧 Casual session $12
💧 10 Session Pass $100
💧 Annual Group Fitness Passes (unlimited classes) available

AquaFLOAT
$20 per person, per session. AquaFLOAT is not included in the 10 Session Pass but is included in the Annual Group Fitness Pass.

Last season, we included group fitness classes in our Annual Swim Passes at no additional cost so our community could jump in and try them. With our new timetable launching, group fitness classes will now require a separate session payment or Group Fitness Pass and will no longer be included in entry season passes.

A new online booking system will also be available through our customer portal within the next two weeks. We will let you know as soon as bookings open!

We’re looking for some brilliant people to join the Splash team for Term 4 and Term 1, working:

🕘 9:00am to 2:00pm
📅 Monday to Friday
🎒 During school terms

Splash will cover the cost of your:

You just need to have a current Blue Card.

No awkward 5am starts.
