Join us for a sociable morning at Rockhampton Zoo making animal enrichment and meeting new people.

Our senior visitors will get hands-on making animal enrichment for a selection of zoo animals.

Our two green-winged macaws, Poppy and Dahlia, were very surprised to see a zookeeper up in the rafters of their aviary!

Rockhampton Zoo is excited to welcome Charlie, our new resident koala who has recently arrived from Wildlife HQ on the Sunshine Coast.🐨

Charlie came into care as a young koala after being rescued following a car strike. As a result of his injuries, Charlie lost one eye and was later assessed as not suitable for release back into the wild. After receiving specialist care and rehabilitation, Charlie was transferred to Wildlife HQ, where he continued to thrive under expert care before making his move to Rockhampton Zoo.

Despite his early life challenges, Charlie is a calm and settled koala who is doing well in his new home. 🏠

Charlie’s story is a reminder of the challenges wildlife face in urban and regional environments, and the important role that zoos play in providing lifelong care for animals that cannot return to the wild. You can come and meet Charlie and learn more about koala conservation at our koala talk held every day at 3:40pm.🍃
