Today, our Year 4/5/6 class enjoyed a fantastic morning at the Rockhampton Show Pavilion, taking part in hands-on activities all about sustainability and caring for the land.

From cuddling adorable farm animals and sorting rubbish into the correct bins to exploring coral ecosystems, students had the chance to learn through fun, interactive experiences. They also listened to a Darumbal story and learnt a traditional dance, gaining a deeper appreciation for culture and respect for Country.
It was a wonderful morning filled with curiosity, learning and plenty of smiles! 🌱🐑🌊💚

Mrs Jacobson, Miss Andrea, Miss Tori and Mrs Karthik jetsetted to Brisbane today to visit schools that have been recognised for their incredible loose parts and nature play programs.
They spent the day exploring how these spaces operate in different settings and learning how they can be linked to curriculum and student learning.

While as adults what we might see is 'a mess', to our students it's endless opportunities... Loose parts play uses everyday materials and natural resources to encourage creativity, problem-solving, collaboration and imaginative play. It gives children the freedom to create, build, explore and learn through hands-on experiences.

Thank you so much to Berrinba East, Amberley District and Runcorn State Schools who invited us into their spaces and shared their learnings so that we can bring these opportunities to our community. We are excited about the possibilities this could bring to Depot Hill and can't wait to start creating opportunities for our students to learn, play and thrive in new ways!

What a fantastic Sports Day! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️☀️
Our students gave their all throughout the day, showing incredible determination, resilience, and sportsmanship in every event. Whether they crossed the finish line first, cheered on their teammates, or picked themselves up and tried again, they demonstrated the values that make us so proud.

BOOK CLUB
Book Club is a wonderful way to encourage a love of reading at home while giving children the excitement of choosing their own books. There are fantastic books and activities available for all ages and interests and every order helps support our school with valuable rewards and resources for classrooms and the library.
