Royalty came calling to Redcliffe Playgroup last week. Marmalade scones (and sandwiches) were hugely popular at the high-tea, while reports of lots of fun during mat time as the iconic sights of London were seen via our story time popup book. Classic nursery rhymes and songs tied in nicely before heading outside to make our own double decker buses at the craft table.

It's on today - FYI we have almost 40 prizes to be won on our Number Grid Board, (made possible because of the generosity of businesses and individuals in and beyond the Peninsula).
Numbers are still available with the draw
starting around 11:45 am.
Cross My Heart Cafe will be open to ensure the need for coffee/tea etc can be met.
Apart from the above there will be a Bake sale, plants needing a home and a bargain to grab at our "suitcase rummage."
Oh, and of course, the barbie will be fired up, tantalising our senses with the classic sausage sizzle to keep the hunger pangs at bay.

New Zealand, the land of the long white cloud, gave us much fun - with our Maori poi being constructed soon after "reading" the book Kupa Haka (and even having a go at doing the haka ourselves on the day rain kept us inside) this week.

Indonesia was our country of interest this week...with one of our grandparents sharing their cultural heritage at Redcliffe Playgroup by demonstrating a national edible treat...chicken and rice never tasted so good...cooked and served wrapped in banana leaves. Our book showed sights and sounds throughout Indonesia while the children enjoyed creating 'batik' inspired art work.
