πŸš’β€οΈ A huge thank you to the volunteers at Rapid Bay and Districts CFS for hosting our students today as part of Thank a First Responder Day.

From exploring the trucks and spraying hoses to sounding the sirens (perhaps a few too many times! πŸ˜‚), our students had an amazing experience learning about the important role our local responders play in keeping our community safe.

Thank you for your time, dedication and service to our community. We appreciate all that you do. β€οΈπŸš’

πŸ˜‚πŸš’ Thank a Responder Day 2026 πŸš’πŸ˜‚

A huge thank you to the incredible volunteers at Rapid Bay and Districts CFS for welcoming our students and staff today.

The students had an absolute blast exploring the trucks, using the hoses, trying on helmets, and learning about the important role our local responders play in keeping our community safe.

There may have also been a few cheeky students who discovered the siren button and took great delight in giving the adults a fright whenever they wandered a little too close! πŸ˜‚

We were proud to present cards and drawings created by our students as a small token of appreciation for the dedication, courage and selflessness shown by our local CFS volunteers.

Thank you for everything you do for our community. We are incredibly lucky to have you.

β€οΈπŸš’ Thank you, Rapid Bay CFS! πŸš’β€οΈ

🐾 Harry and Garfield Update 🐾

Our two little ginger visitors have had a big few days! Harry and Garfield have now been weighed, wormed, and are doing wonderfully.

They are currently being cared for through Tiny Tails Rescue and I’m sure they are receiving lots of love and attention.

We’re also excited to share that a Rapid Bay family and staff family have registered their interest in giving these little boys a forever home. ❀️

A huge thank you to everyone who has checked in, offered support, and helped ensure these kittens are safe and well cared for. It’s been heartwarming to see our community come together for these tiny rescue cats.

We’ll keep you updated on their journey! 🐱🐱

🐾 Meet Harry and Garfield! 🐾

It’s been quite the week at Rapid Bay Primary School!

Yesterday, our cleaner made a surprising discovery when a tiny ginger kitten was found tucked underneath the couch in the Mukurta classroom. Then today, another ginger kitten was spotted near the shipping container by the cricket club.

So, meet Harry and Garfield, who are currently curled up in my office, purring away happily as I write this post. ❀️

Over the weekend, we will organise a visit to the vet clinic to ensure Harry and Garfield receive a thorough health check and any care they may need.

For now, they’re enjoying a warm, safe place, plenty of food, and lots of cuddles while they settle in. 🐱🐱

We look forward to sharing an update on these two little adventurers soon!

Nature can be both beautiful and heartbreaking. πŸ–€

Yesterday, two kind members of our community rescued this beautiful magpie and brought it to our school. It was clear that the bird had suffered a significant wing injury. Our students eagerly collected worms, and this little one certainly had an appetite, enjoying plenty of food and water while we worked out the next steps.

We contacted Max, who kindly transported the magpie to the vet for assessment. Sadly, the breaks to its wing were too severe, and the kindest outcome was to prevent any further suffering.

We are grateful to the caring people who stopped to help and ensured this beautiful bird received the care and compassion it deserved. It was also a valuable opportunity for our students to learn about kindness, responsibility, and caring for wildlife.
