The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is an emergency, preparedness and response service dedicated to assisting the community of NSW. It is made up almost entirely of volunteers, with 229 units located
throughout the state. The units comprise of approximately 10,000 volunteer members, who are easily identified by their distinctive orange Uniforms. While our core responsibilities are for flood, sto

rm and tsunami operations, the NSW SES also provides support
to general rescue efforts in the State. This includes Road Crash Rescue (RCR), Vertical Rescue (VR), Urban Search and Rescue (USR), evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural) and other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats. Volunteers in a number of isolated communities have also been
trained as Community First Responders by the Ambulance Service of New South Wales. The Service's trained rescuers also support the full-time emergency services during major disasters. The NSW SES assists other
emergency services when they are performing major operations. These services include the NSW Police Force, the NSW Rural Fire Service, Fire and Rescue NSW and the Ambulance Service of NSW. The NSW SES also partners with local communities through Community Engagement programs like FloodSafe, StormSafe and TsunamiSafe. These programs are supported by strategies and resources, are delivered locally
through a range of activities and events and are a priority for the NSW SES. The aim is to engage at-risk communities on preparedness, response and recovery measures so that there is no loss of life and impacts caused by these events are minimised. This in turn builds community resilience to floods, storms and tsunami. For further information visit the NSW SES website at http://www.ses.nsw.gov.au/

We can hear the farmers saying 'Send it down Huey'.

Keep in mind, dry grounds can mean flash flooding.

Last night, our Liverpool Plains Unit partnered with a crew from the Tamworth Unit to form a unified team. Together, they efficiently mitigated damage caused by a fallen dead tree.

By the time the task was finished, the house had been transformed to look as though it had been delicately gift wrapped. Two satisfied teams, one very appreciative family.

NSW SES at a Ute Muster....?
Wait..... what?

We didn't take out any titles, but had a great evening engaging with the locals.

It wasn't about awards for best work ute, best stickers, best lights, or best christmas theme..... it was thinking outside the box and keeping ourselves connected with those we serve.

It was about our team introducing ourselves in person to a small village within our area, sharing what we do, our knowledge with how to be storm ready in regional nsw, engaging with potential new members and sharing our vision as a team moving forward in 2026.

As a result of our leadership teams fresh ideas, we received close to 30 new fb followers, had 2 new member enquiries, and our community can now put names and faces to those that turn up and assist in their time of need.

Thank you to the organisers of the Wallabadah Hotel Ute Muster for allowing us the opportunity to join in your Christmas celebrations.
The service was fantastic, the meals were delicious, and the atmosphere you have created feels like a home.

Where else might we pop up in 2026?
Stay tuned to find out..... 🙂

Better safe than sorry.
Preparation is key.

Sorry folks, it looks like there’s more storms on the way! ⛈️

From Wednesday, it’s best to get out the indoor clothes horse because NSW can expect a change in the weather as thunderstorms are forecast - particularly in the western, central and northern areas.

From Thursday, there is potential for SEVERE thunderstorms bringing localised heavy rainfall, large hail (
