Last night our members had a good old fashion games night at training, where we enjoyed playing Monopoly with a special SES theme together with some delicious food!

Nothing beats a bit of light-hearted competition 💪

Last night our unit held a large scale simulated exercise to test our skills. With 19 live casulties, our teams had to access dark, obstructed areas to locate, treat and extricate these casualties.

To make this exercise as realistic as possible, some of our newer members were provided with moulage to give them injuries likely to occur in this type of scenario.

We were deeply saddened to hear about the tragic death of two marine rescue volunteers. This is an unfortunate tragedy that highlights the challenging circumstances that emergency services be them paid or voluntary work in daily.

Our thoughts are with everyone at Marine Rescue NSW today and especially with the families of those gone too soon.

Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council have advised of the alternate route for the Anzac Day March while Monaro Street is closed.

We look forward to supporting the Queanbeyan RSL Sub-Branch this year again. Lets all make sure we get down and support our veterans along the alternate route this year.

Tomorrow and Friday are expected to be wet ones. The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting up to 15mm of rain tomorrow and up to 20mm Friday.

Tomorrow will be partly cloudy with a very high chance of showers.

The chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon and early evening, possibly severe with heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding.

Light winds becoming west to northwesterly 15 to 25 km/h in the middle of the day then becoming light in the late evening.

Overnight temperatures falling to between 11 and 14 with daytime temperatures reaching between 19 and 24.

If you are out and about today near Jerra falls you might see our new Vertical Rescue trainees participating in training.

Our unit is a vertical rescue unit and training in these environments is an important part of our members currency!

Rain is building to the south and is tracking towards Queanbeyan on the radar.

The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted up to 15mm of rain may fall with the chance of a heavy rain before easing off into the late afternoon.

Please don’t park under trees and avoid flash flooding should it occur.

Last night our flood rescue trained members ran a session on flood rescue awareness for our wider volunteer base to get a better understanding of the process.

This session included exposure to our vessels, including demonstrating pulling someone on board from the water and how to use our throw bags.
