Cath Jenkins - Corangamite Shire Tandarook Ward

Cath Jenkins - Corangamite Shire Tandarook Ward Standing for the Corangamite Shire Council Elections 2024 for the Tandarook Ward. Since then, we've transitioned to beef cattle and chicken farming.

I live on our family farm in South Purrumbete with my husband, Adam, and our four children. We've called this place home for 20 years, initially running a dairy farm from 2004 to 2018. Professionally, I work as a business consultant, specialising in agriculture and small business, with a strong focus on the dairy industry in south west Victoria. I have extensive governance experience, currently se

rving as Chair of both the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority and Vic Catchments. Community involvement is important to me, and I’ve actively participated in local sports like hockey, football, volleyball, netball, and pony club. I'm also a committed member of the Cobden Business Network and Progressing Cobden, where I enjoy helping our community navigate future challenges and opportunities.

Based on yesterday's VEC vote count, it appears I have not been successful in my campaign for the Corangamite Shire elections. The results will be finalised, once final counts are completed, with official announcements set for next Thursday 7th.

While I am disappointed the results didn’t go my way, I am incredibly grateful for the experience I have had. From the start my goal was to offer a choice for the community, and I achieved this! I was motivated to contribute to this great region that we live in and though I won’t be on the Council, I will continue to work with local communities and in my other roles contributing to positive future of the Corangamite region.

I value and respect the democratic process and I have no regrets, and I am proud of the campaign we ran. It was a wonderful experience, meeting and talking with so many different members of our community. Thank you to everyone spoke to me and shared their thoughts, ideas and concerns with me. It has been great to see so much engagement, interest and passion for our region and its people.

I appreciate the incredible support and encouragement I have had from people of the Tandarook Ward and the broader Corangamite Shire, thank you.

Special thanks to my family and friends (new & old, near & far) who have supported me throughout. This has kept me grounded, positive and enabled me to stay focused on my goal, regardless of the outcome.

Congratulations to Jo Beard as she continues on for another 4 year term as our local Councillor. I admire Jo for her commitment and dedication to Council and I wish her all the best.

I am looking forward to seeing our region thrive and rest assured I will be continuing to support our community in every way I can.

Let’s keep working together

With many of our farmers feeling the impact of the incredibly dry season - we will be looking at the sky this week - hoping it brings some decent rain.

We know in Tandarook Ward - when the farmers are doing well, so are our businesses and our community can thrive. It’s essential we work hard to support these businesses and get behind them when times are tough.

Cobden Main Street looking mighty fine this morning! Great to enjoy a beautiful coffee from Nells Cafe and catch up with some locals.

It’s always interesting listening to all the ideas and issues raised by different people from in town & out of town.

Key things I’m hearing are:
- people love how friendly the community is
- they are keen to see more people using and enjoying the Cobden Main Street
- childcare (lack of) is an issue in our Ward and it’s making things challenging for local businesses and workers.
- really need to focus on attracting young families to the town
- it’s an amazing place to live and work, affordable and an amazing community

Let me know what you think! I’m all ears!

As a candidate for the Tandarook Ward in the Corangamite Shire elections, I seek your support to bring new energy, ideas and action-based leadership to our region.

I have been listening to the people of the Tandarook Ward and they are passionate about the region and they want to see it come to life and thrive.

I know they want a councillor that will listen to their ideas and concerns and then take action to deal with the challenges and make the most of the many great opportunities we have available to us.

Having lived with my family on our farm in South Purrumbete for 20 years, I have a strong background in business and farming, I know the region well and I am passionate and committed to creating a strong future for our communities.

So when your ballot papers arrive in your mailbox, Vote 1 for me and together, we can build a vibrant, strong community, proud of its past and ready for the future.

I love learning about the great history of our local communities! So many amazing stories of families, clubs and achievements. Much to be proud of and some great work being done by groups such as the South Purrumbete Recreation Reserve committee to share this history.
