THURSDAY, MAY 21st
Have you ever thought that you’d like to do some of the GSWW, but don’t know where to go or you don’t want to do it on your own?
Well this could be just the walk for you.
Graded easy our next recreational walk will take us the 11km from Cut Out Camp to Cobboboonee Camp. You’ll be accompanied by happy, smiley people as you meander through this beautiful section of the GSWW.

All walkers need to register by 3pm, WED, MAY 20.

We will meet at Cobboboonee camp @ 9:00am and arrange carpooling from there to the start of the walk.

On May 9th the next FGSWW Saturday Walking Group will be held in the Cobboboonee National Park
from Cobboboonee To Cutout Camps.This is a 11km easy walk along the GSWW and Heathland Nature Walk
which is a section of the GSWW south of Cobboboonee Road.
Leaves Portland Information Centre at 9am.
BYO Lunch, Drinks, Nibbles etc.

Why not put aside, MONDAY, MAY 4th and join us on our 22.1 km walk from Swan Lake to Tarragal camp. There’s an option to leave the walk at Mt Richmond (13km)

Graded medium, this section of the GSWW takes you various landscapes including, small dunes, coastal heathland and the Mt Richmond National Park, where you will be extremely unlucky if you don’t meet some Koalas.

To Register, txt your full name and the name of the walk (Swan Lake-Tarragal) to 0448 112 391 by 3pm, Sunday, May 3rd.

We will meet at Tarragal camp at 8am then carpool from there to the start of the walk at Swan Lake.

The Friends of the GSWW are excited to be hosting the FEDERATION WALKS for 2026. The Fed Walks are a Bushwalking Victoria initiative and is open to all BWV affiliated club members.
Walkers from all over the state will converge on Portland to take part in a weekend of walks.

On offer will be walks of distances from 5km to 20km through our unique and varied landscapes.
The GSWW is often referred to as a Symphony in Four Movements, hinting at the four distinct environments of river, forest, beach and clifftops.

Saturday night will be at the Portland Golf Club for dinner, raffles, speakers and live music.

Watch this space for further information, and visit the Bushwalking Victoria or GSWW websites and join a club, then join us in October.

SAVE THE DATE…THURSDAY, APRIL 16th and join us on this 9.5 km walk from the BRIDGEWATER LAKES TO THE BLOWHOLES.
Graded easy medium this walk takes us from the beautiful lakes, up along the clifftops to the magnificent views of Discovery Bay where we’ll wind our way to the Blowholes, passing The Springs, The Green Pools and the Petrified Forest.
There’ll be an option to have lunch at the Bridgewater Cafe afterwards.

We will meet at the Blowholes at 9am and then carpool to the Lakes to start our walk.

Come and join the FGSWW Saturday Walking Group on our next walk on April 11th from Blowholes To Cape Bridgewater Bay.
This is a 9km easy / medium walk via Cape Duquesne, Petrified Forest, Seal Colony, Stoney Hill, highest coastal cliff in Victoria along the coastal section of the GSWW.
Meet at the Bridgewater Bay cafe carpark @ 9.30 am. Lunch Bridgewater Bay Cafe Own Expense.

Easter exploring in your own backyard. After a walk on the GSWW admiring our beautiful landscapes, why not treat you and family/friends to a wonderful cruise to admire the River landscape from a different angle. Are you going to overindulge on chocolate and fish and chips over the Easter weekend? Well we’ve got just the thing for you…even if you don’t go overboard.

On our next recreational walk we’ll be walking 20km from the Cape Nelson Lighthouse to Bills walk. There will be an opt out point at Yellow Rock (8km).

This part of The GSWW encompasses some amazing scenery including The Enchanted Forest, Yellow Rock surf spot, Lawrence Rock and Nelson Bay.
This walk is graded easy-medium.

We will meet at Bills Walk (corner of Childers St and Madeira Packet Rd) at 7:45am and carpool from there to the Lighthouse to start our walk.

All walkers need to register by 3pm, Sunday, April 5th

Our next recreational walk is The Full Nelson. This is a lovely loop walk starting and finishing at the Cape Nelson Lighthouse.

Taking in rugged clifftops, contorted Soap Mallee groves, lush gullies and intriguing coves this walk is graded easy medium and has a little something for everyone.

We will meet at the Cape Nelson Lighthouse at 9am.
All walkers will need to register by 3pm, Wednesday, March 18th.

Why not join us on our next recreational walk. This section takes us through coastal heathland, some cliff top walking and the spectacular Bridgewater Bay.

With some beach walking and a particularly amazing dune towards the end this walk is graded moderate.

We will leave the Portland Visitor Centre at 9am, where carpooling will be available.
