Have Your Say: CCTV in Early Childhood Services

The Australian Government is seeking parent and carer feedback on the use of CCTV in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) settings.

This is part of a national evaluation aiming to understand if CCTV supports child safety in services like ours.

Your perspective is important and will help inform future decisions about the use of CCTV in early childhood settings. The survey is short, voluntary, and responses are anonymous.

⏰ Surveys close: 6:00 pm, 18 June 2026

📸 Important Reminder: Personal Devices at Port Pirie West Children’s Centre 📱

To help protect the safety, dignity, and privacy of all children, we kindly remind families, visitors, and community members that personal mobile phones and cameras are not to be used within our Centre—including during kindy sessions, playgroups, workshops, transition visits, at drop off and pick up, and at special events.

If there is a special occasion or you wish to take a photo, please speak to an educator or staff member first. In some cases, it may be possible with prior permission and under staff supervision, to ensure the privacy and rights of all children and families are respected.

Only service-issued devices are used for photos or videos, and only with family consent. This policy helps us maintain a welcoming, safe, and respectful environment for everyone in our community.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and ongoing support in making Port Pirie West Children’s Centre a secure and positive place to learn and play.

If you have any questions about this policy, please feel free to speak with a staff member or contact us directly.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Kind regards

Kellie Bails

Today, on National Sorry Day, we pause to reflect, remember and acknowledge the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly members of the Stolen Generations and their families. ❤️💛🖤

National Sorry Day is observed each year on 26 May and recognises the ongoing impact of past government policies that led to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children being removed from their families, communities and cultures.

At Port Pirie West Children’s Centre, we are committed to creating a place where children and families feel safe, connected, respected and valued. Today reminds us of the importance of listening, learning, building understanding and walking together with kindness and respect.

We encourage our community to take a moment today to reflect, have conversations, share stories and continue learning about the histories, experiences and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Sometimes meaningful change begins with simply listening and acknowledging the journey of others. 🖤💛❤️
