Port Pirie Regional Council congratulates Erin Pycroft as the winner of our recent giveaway, held as part of the Port Pirie Career Roadshow.

Erin completed a short questionnaire about the services Council provides and has scored a $50 Business Port Pirie voucher to spend locally — well done!

Australian National Flag at Half‑Mast: Friday 12 June 2026

Please note that the Australian National Flag at Port Pirie Regional Council Chambers and within the CBD will be flown at half-mast this Friday 12 June, as a mark of mourning and respect for Professor Peter Buckskin AM PSM.

Professor Buckskin, a proud Narungga man, was a highly respected Aboriginal education leader whose lifelong work significantly advanced education, policy, and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

🚧 O’Shaughnessy Bridge Works: Road Closure Notice 17-19 June 🚧

**UPDATE: Please note, these works have been delayed slightly due to weather, now commencing on WEDNESDAY 17 JUNE for completion on FRIDAY 19 JUNE (weather permitting)**

Port Pirie Regional Council advises that as part of our Capital Works Program, maintenance works will be undertaken on O’Shaughnessy Bridge, Wandearah Road (Nurom) commencing Wednesday 17 June.

Road Closure Details:
➡️ Wandearah Road will be closed between Spencer Highway and Augusta Highway
➡️ Works are expected to take 3 days to complete (weather permitting) with daily closure times 7am – 5pm
➡️ Local traffic only will be permitted through the work area
➡️ All other traffic will be detoured via: Clements Road, Abattoirs Road
(please refer to the attached detour plan)

A Community Information Session will be held for anyone who would like to know more, ask questions or get more information on the Concept Plans for the proposed Improvements to Adelaide Square in Crystal Brook.

The drop-in session will be held:
📍 Crystal Brook Library, 21 Bowman Street
📆 Wednesday 17 June 2026
⏰ 9am to 12.30pm

Please note, this is a drop-in session - no RSVPs are required.

This is a great opportunity to find out more about the Concept Plans and speak to our Council staff about this exciting project.

⚡Crystal Brook Office & Library Closed Early Due to Power Outage ⚡

Please be advised that due to an unexpected power outage across Crystal Brook, the Crystal Brook Council Office and Library have closed its doors a little early today.

According to the SA Power Networks website, power is expected to be restored in Crystal Brook at around 9.30pm tonight.

🚧 Florence Street Works – Traffic Update 🚧

Port Pirie Regional Council will commence root guard installation on Florence Street as the first step in addressing the bumpy road sections.

📅 When: From 7:00am, Monday 15 June (approx. 3 days)
📍 Where: Southbound lane between Alexander Street and Norman Street
🚧 Impact: Southbound lane closure during works

Works will involve trenching, installing a root barrier system, and backfilling to help prevent further damage caused by tree roots.

Please note: This stage will not immediately fix the road surface. Final improvements will occur when the road is profiled and resealed as part of the 2026/27 reseal program (Feb/March 2027).

What’s next:
➡️ Step 2: Northbound lane works (Feb 2027)
➡️ Step 3: Full reseal
