Attendance Matters!

Westport Public School is working hard to improve attendance so that all students achieve to their potential. Parents/Carers of children from Kindergarten to Year 12 must ensure their child/ren attend school every day it is open. On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school. Justified reasons for student absences may include:
* being sick or having an infectious disease
* having an unavoidable medical appointment
* being required to attend a recognised religious holiday
* exceptional or urgent family circumstances e.g. attending a funeral.
Parents/Carers must provide an explanation for absences to the school within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence. You can send in a note to the classroom teacher, call or email the school, respond to the daily absentee text message or through Schoolbytes. Where an explanation has not been received within the 7-day timeframe, the school will record the absence as unjustified on the student’s record. If you have any questions regarding attendance, please contact the school.

Our students recently enjoyed a fantastic day at the Basketball Gala Day held at Port Macquarie Basketball Stadium. Accompanied by Mrs Johnston and Miss Adcock, both the boys’ and girls’ teams showed great teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

The boys came away with a well-earned win and competed strongly throughout the day. The girls also put in a tremendous effort, playing with enthusiasm and resilience in every game.

We are proud of all the students who participated and the positive attitude they displayed both on and off the court. 👏🏀🌟
