🚤🌊 Teamwork on the Water! Search & Rescue Training with the Pilbara Regiment 🇦🇺
Marine Rescue Port Hedland recently joined forces with the Pilbara Regiment for a fantastic day of joint search and rescue training in the tidal creeks and mangrove estuaries behind Port Hedland Harbour! 💪
The exercise involved a simulated missing person scenario, challenging crews to navigate the shallow, winding waterways and dense mangrove areas where larger rescue vessels simply can’t operate at low tide.
Using the Pilbara Regiment’s two Zodiac inflatable boats and the MRPH Roam-N vessel, crews conducted coordinated searches through the tidal estuaries, putting their shallow-water navigation, search techniques and teamwork to the test.
Once the simulated casualty was located, crews practised safely transferring the casualty between the Zodiacs and our offshore rescue vessel, Iron Pride. 🚤
🤝 Training together means responding better together!
Exercises like these are invaluable for strengthening cooperation between our organisations, building practical skills and ensuring we’re ready to respond when someone needs help in our challenging coastal environment.
A big thank you to the Pilbara Regiment for joining us and making this such a worthwhile training opportunity. We look forward to more joint exercises in the future!
