Rural women can experience high out of pocket expenses to attend specialist medical appointments, including travel and childcare requirements on top of lack of choice and long wait times.

The National Rural Women's Coalition is responding to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Health, Aged Care and Disability's inquiry into access and affordability of medical specialists in Australia and we need your help to ensure rural, regional, remote and remote experiences are better understood.

Jetties are an important part of the South Australian coast and communities.

We are calling for stronger state investment in jetty maintenance and renewal.

We are asking the state government to commit to:

👉 An 80/20 funding partnership, with the state government contributing 80 percent and local government 20 percent

👉 An increase in state jetty funding from $5 million to $10 million per year

A stronger funding partnership will help councils maintain safe and resilient jetties for communities and visitors.

I have long held this concern, particularly with the lack of enforcement available after ESCOSA reviews. Motherhood acknowledgement does not equal to real change and meanwhile the ratepayers remain the bank. Please sign and share!
