Tonight the PAE Council Assessment Panel (CAP) met to consider the Application for the subdivision and demolition of the Fisherman's Wharf Markets - Cargo Shed 1.
Over the 2 week consultation period, 37 representations were received regarding the Application (4 in support and 33 against).
3 People spoke against the Application at tonight's meeting, including members of the Port of Adelaide National Trust.

The 5 CAP Members considered the arguments put forward and, despite being convinced by them, were unable to prevent the Application from being approved given that "their hands were tied" by the Planning and Design Code.

It could have been activated like this Sydney Harbour wharf shed but, sadly, it is destined to be just another vacant block. Shame...

Wharf Sheds 2 and 3 were demolished on this prime riverfront block nearly 25 years ago. Shed 1 is 3 times the size of this empty site and is to be demolished - again, with no plans for development. No jobs, no tourism, no activation, no Port!

The owner has filed for demolition of Shed 1. So bye bye to the Fisherman's Wharf markets.
What's going up instead? Nothing. No plans.
We'll be left with another hoarding around a very big (nearly 1 hectare) empty waterfront block. For how long? 5 years? 10 years?
