Our members had the honour of attending the 2026 Good Friday Appeal Thank You Event, celebrating the incredible success of the 95th Good Friday Appeal, organised by The Royal Children’s Hospital and the Good Friday Appeal Team.

This year, together, we raised an amazing $28,466.99, a 30% increase from last year—a fantastic achievement made possible by the generosity and support of our community.

Thank you to everyone who contributed, volunteered, donated, and supported this important cause. Every dollar raised helps make a real difference 💚💜

This National Volunteer Week, we celebrate the many people who contribute to the running of Point Cook CFA. 🚒

From maintaining trucks and equipment, organising the station, administration, training, fundraising and community events, to supporting emergency responses behind the scenes — every role matters and every volunteer makes a difference.

We also thank our operational firefighters who help protect and support our community when emergencies happen.

In December 1998, five CFA (Country Fire Authority) firefighters lost their lives fighting a bushfire in Linton, 150km west of Melbourne.

This tragic event rocked the firefighting community. To recognise the sacrifice of those firefighters, and the work of firefighters around the world, International Firefighters' Day was established in 1999.

The date, 4 May, was chosen to coincide with St Florian's Day - the patron saint of firefighters.

Day and night - in the heat, cold or rain - firefighters answer the call to assist our communities every day of the year.

Today, we're thinking about all the firefighters on what they give up to protect lives and property.

⏰ Don’t forget to wind your clocks back for the end of Daylight Saving today!

With that extra hour, take a moment to check your smoke alarms — it’s a simple step that could save your life.

To test your alarm, press the test button and make sure it beeps. CFA (Country Fire Authority) also recommend:

🚨 Testing your smoke alarms every month
🪫 Replacing the 9V smoke alarm batteries and gently cleaning alarms each year
🛋️ Installing smoke alarms in living areas, hallways, and bedrooms
🔗 Using interconnected alarms with 10-year lithium batteries for better protection

⚠️ It might be time to replace your smoke alarm if it’s yellowing, chirping regularly, giving false alarms, or is more than 10 years old.

Stay safe and look after your household ❤️

What a incredible day it has been, in our 75th year supporting the Good Friday Appeal!

Our brigades collected a remarkable $2,150,000 and it wouldn't have been possible without your support!

Thank you to all the members of the community who generously donated and supported the cause through our brigades, and to our wonderful members who took part in this year's fundraising efforts both before and during the appeal. We are so proud to be a part of such a worthwhile cause each and every year.
