I had the pleasure to meet up with Yousef and Kristy from Base Camp Dwellingup at the C-Wise Dwellingup 100.

Base Camp are Dwellingups newest business providing for a huge range of camping, hiking, trekking, biking and more stock.

It’s really encouraging to see young people working extremely hard to put so much into their communities with business and jobs.

Well done ! Make sure you pop down there when they open up.

Ps you’ll love their new mascot (zoom in!)

David Bolt MLA recently bought this grievance up in parliament re: South Yunderup Bridge, Greenlands Road Intersection of Forrest Hwy, Coolup Train Station, and the Pinjarra Heavy Haulage Deviation. It’s positive that these matters are raised to the forefront of the government to ensure the best outcomes are achieved for our communities. It’s worth a listen.

Rewinding the clock to 1896! ⏪ 🕰️

The iconic Pinjarra Post Office was built in 1896 by H. Parker and designed by the renowned Colonial Architect George Temple-Poole. The building was designed to accommodate the workings of the Post Office on the ground floor and a private residence for the Postmaster and family on the upper floor. A true piece of Pinjarra's architectural heritage! 🏛️📚

Did you know the Pinjarra Post Office underwent a major transformation in 1923? 📞✨

At the recent August Council meeting, I thoroughly supported OVIS Community Services continuing to use the Pinjarra Court House while longer‑term arrangements are worked out.

OVIS is one of the few organisations in our region that stands beside women and families facing domestic violence, homelessness and crisis situations. The Court House has been underused for years, and OVIS has turned it into a safe, active, community‑focused space.

I want to acknowledge the work of our CEO and staff who acted quickly to make sure OVIS could keep operating. Their responsiveness and professionalism show what good local government looks like.

This decision gives stability to OVIS and certainty to the families who rely on their services. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on how Council can continue to support community organisations like OVIS and strengthen services across the Shire.

Thanks to everyone who has contacted me this week about the condition of the track between Austin Lakes estate and the ACBC school. This track is the main access route for many students riding to school, and I raised the issue after this month's Council meeting.

The Shire’s Design Team has confirmed that contractors are already working on a realignment to avoid the current inundation. In the meantime, if residents notice issues like this, the quickest way to get action is to report them directly to the Shire through the portal, email or phone:

👉 Report it here: https://www.murray.wa.gov.au/community-and-services/report-it.aspx
📞 Shire Office: 08 9531 7777
📧 Email: [email protected]

I’ll continue to follow up on this matter and keep the community updated. Feel free to reach out to me to discuss any local matters.
