Look close at this picture. On the top of the driver’s car is Bob, also known as Bob the railway dog. His human was Mr W S Ferry, a guard on the wheat train and Bob would fret when he was away, so at 18 months old, he rode the train with him. He lived to be 17 years old. His home was in Port Augusta and this picture was taken there too, in approximately 1887. This is thanks to the State Library of South Australia.
