Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible mums out there, especially those in our emergency services 💐💙

For Ruvi, being a mum means the joy of shaping little lives into kind, caring people... and of course, the endless hugs along the way!

Ruvi and her family have called the Kimberley home for the past 10 years, after moving from Zimbabwe to Melbourne and then finally settling in Fitzroy Crossing and embracing life in a remote community. Over the last three years, she has been proudly serving alongside her husband as part of the Fitzroy Crossing Volunteer Fire and Emergency Services.

The Brigade will be conducting prescribed burning on Joshua Mews in Baskerville, this afternoon (May 9th) from approximately 4.00pm.

Smoke is expected to be visible in the area through this evening.

City of Swan volunteers are undertaking the City’s largest ever hazard reduction burn 🔥

The tenure-blind strategic burn in the Avon Valley will cover about 350 hectares across multiple land tenures.

The burning is set to start Friday, May 8 and will continue for several days, subject to weather conditions.

These moving words are a fitting tribute to the brave individuals who put themselves in harm's way to protect our communities - we express our deepest gratitude to all firefighters for your service.

🔥 Restricted Burning Period 🔥

Just a friendly reminder that we’re now in the restricted burning period. If you’re planning to burn, you’ll need a permit first.

Good news! You can easily apply online.

A few quick tips to keep everyone safe:
• Check the fire danger rating before you light up
• No burning on Total Fire Ban days
• Have water or a hose ready to go
• Stay with your fire at all times
• Keep the area clear around your burn

A huge thank you to the team at Ellenbrook Auto Electrics for installing Starlink systems across our three appliances.

Corey and his team did an outstanding job from start to finish, working around our operational requirements to minimise disruption while delivering a high-quality installation. That flexibility and understanding of our needs make all the difference.

The addition of Starlink to our fleet is a big step forward for our incident management and response capabilities, giving us reliable connectivity when and where we need it most.

🚨 Expression of Interest – Recruitment Closed 🚨

In light of the recent bushfires in Ellenbrook and the overwhelming interest from residents wanting to make a difference, we have extended the Expression of Interest period until 2nd February.

Would you like to help your community during emergencies like the one we’ve just experienced? Now is the perfect time to step up and join our brigade.

🔥 We’re looking for people who:
• Live within 15 minutes of the station
• Hold a C Class Manual driver’s licence or higher
• Are reliable, committed, and eager to learn
• Come from all backgrounds — prior emergency services experience is welcome but not essential
• Can commit to ongoing training and community involvement

🚒 What you can expect:
• Structured and comprehensive training
• Development toward operational response
• Becoming part of a supportive, close-knit team serving the local community

📅 Information Day:
There will be an Information Day on 7th February at 0800 hrs for anyone interested in learning more about joining our brigade.
