1 in 6 older people experience abuse.
It’s a confronting statistic and one that reminds us why conversations around elder abuse matter.
Elder abuse is often hidden and can happen in many forms. Sometimes the signs are overlooked and sometimes behaviours become normalised over time.
Many victims remain silent out of fear, shame or concern about speaking up. Awareness can make a difference.
Take time to check in with older people in your life, stay connected and know the signs.
If something doesn’t feel right, support is available.
