Do you know an incredible person, organisation or group doing amazing work to benefit the community and contribute positively to consumer protection in WA?

Do you know an incredible person, organisation or group doing amazing work to benefit the community and contribute positively to consumer protection in WA?

🏆We'd love you to consider nominating them for an award.

Now in its 21st year, the Consumer Protection awards shine a spotlight on the great and important work being carried out in the community such as educating the public on tenancy, scams, debts and contracts, promoting safe product use to prevent childhood injuries, or advocating for vulnerable consumers. They also recognise achievements in creating a greater understanding of consumer law, improving complaints and dispute processes, and influencing policy reform.

Have you recently had to plan a funeral? We'd like your feedback about your experience 👇🏾

🥀Saying goodbye is never easy. The last thing families need is confusion or stress about how much a funeral will cost - this is why we introduced the Funeral Pricing Code of Practice in 2023.

It means funeral directors must publicly display their prices for all services and packages so you can compare the costs yourself in the comfort of your home or with friends and family.

Grieving friends and family deserve to be protected when they are at their most vulnerable.

🗣 HAVE YOUR SAY | From time to time, State Government departments must conduct reviews of laws. That time has come for the Funeral Pricing Code of Practice and we would like your help by filling out this survey https://consultation.dmirs.wa.gov.au/consumer-protection/funeral-pricing-code-review

Learn more about how you're protected by the code: https://www.consumerprotection.wa.gov.au/announcements/the-commissioner-was-funeral-pricing-code-working

Are you or a family member entitled to money from the WA Stolen Wages settlement?

You could be a target for scammers who will pretend to help you get the money, when they really want to steal it.

Follow our advice to keep your money safe:
✅ Be suspicious of anyone who contacts you via social media, or unexpectedly on text or phone – offering to help you get your money quicker if you pay a fee.
✅ You will NEVER have to pay money to receive your stolen wages settlement money.
✅ If you pay the fee – your money will be gone. This is a scam.
✅ If you think you’ve paid money to a scammer, call our WA ScamNet team on 1300 30 40 54 – you can ask to speak to an Aboriginal Officer if you prefer. Or report online scamnet.wa.gov.au

ℹ More information about the WA Stolen Wages settlement can be found by calling 9480 2005 or visit https://www.stolenwageswa.com.au/
