The projects 👇

🐿️ Management on targeted properties surrounding Dryandra Woodland National Park to protect numbats and other native fauna.
🦎Roll-out of Felixers on Kwirrkurra country to protect great desert skinks.
🐸 Control program in Mount Pierre area (central Kimberley) to protect quolls, wallabies and frogs.
🦆 Feral cat control on the Scott Coastal Plain in the south west.

Rosemary oil, flies and a dash of… bacteria? 🤨🌿🪰🦠

A 5-year research project supported by FRDC has uncovered some promising ways to improve the health and sustainability of yellowtail kingfish aquaculture!

Black soldier fly larvae meal and bacterial protein as alternative protein sources, while rosemary oil reduced gill parasite infections – reducing reliance on fishmeal and chemical treatments without compromising fish growth performance.

As well as producing honey, commercial beekeepers have another important role in our food system – providing pollination services for many of WA’s orchards 🥑

With hives from many different businesses coming together, our biosecurity officers and beekeepers work together to inspect hives and ensure they’re in a healthy condition and not spreading pests or diseases 🔍
