Did you know the average Australian throws away (220,000 tonnes) of clothing to landfill each year? 🤔

Clothes Swaps are a practical way to keep good-quality clothes in use for longer and reduce textile waste.

By swapping instead of buying new, you’re helping support a more sustainable community.

East Rockingham Waste to Energy (ERWtE) agreement 🗣️

Four councils in Perth’s Eastern Region have joined forces in a major development to divert waste from landfill, creating environmental and financial benefits for ratepayers.

The Cities of Swan, Belmont, Kalamunda and the Shire of Mundaring have started sending waste to the ERWtE, designed to support the diversion of residual waste from landfill while recovering energy from waste that cannot be practically recycled or recovered.

About 96 per cent of the Councils’ waste taken to the facility is diverted from landfill by conversion to energy and the recovery of useful materials.

The waste to energy process involves recovering metals for recycling and the remaining ash is used to build roads and produce construction materials.
