g activities for all ages, so there is always something to find at Araluen. Araluen has enjoyed international acclaim for our gardens and particular species, including Camellias and Roses. In 2012, Araluen was recognised by the International Camellia Society, joining just 29 other gardens around the world in their Camellia Gardens of Excellence program. Similarly, Araluen’s Heritage Tea Roses drew acclaim through the highly respected US Rosa Mundi magazine. The 2008 Spring/Summer edition referred to Araluen as ‘…one of the finest collections of Tea Roses in the world…’ Araluen continues the planting traditions established by our founder, Boss Simons, by expanding the camellia and rhododendrons collections, as well as adding to the eucalyptus with Karri, Tuart, and by increasing the Jarrah trees which had been logged heavily in the valley during the early 1900s.

🌷🎨 Sketch Amongst the Tulips

There’s something pretty special about slowing down, finding a beautiful spot amongst the tulips and taking the time to sketch what’s around you.

This September, Artsie Studio Artsie Studio is bringing Sketch Amongst the Tulips to Araluen Botanic Park as part of Yates Springtime at Araluen.

The sessions will be held on 12, 18 and 20 September, with a few different time slots available each day.

Come along, enjoy the spring atmosphere and spend some creative time surrounded by the colours of the season. 🌷

Your entry to Araluen Botanic Park is included in the class fee, so you can make a day of it and explore the Park before or after your session.

BEAUTY GROWS FROM THE HANDS THAT CARE. 🌷

Long before Araluen Botanic park is filled with spring colour, there are people with their hands in the soil — planting, caring and giving their time to help something beautiful grow.

Our volunteers are a very special part of Araluen. Some of our garden groups have been caring for the Park for more than 15 years, and every autumn our Volunteer Tulip Planters help prepare the gardens for the colour that follows in spring. It’s their time, care and community spirit that become part of every garden bed you see in bloom.

Today’s official opening was made even more special by the people who joined us to celebrate the beginning of It’s Yates Springtime at Araluen 2026.

We were honoured to welcome City of Armadale City of Armadale Mayor Ruth Butterfield, members of the Araluen Botanic Park Foundation Board, our Director Matthew Lunn, representatives from Yates Live the joy of the garden! 🍃 our valued festival sponsor, special guests, and, of course, the wonderful Araluen Botanic Park team — our staff, gardeners and dedicated volunteers.

Behind every garden bed, every pathway and every one of our 250,000 tulips are people who care deeply about this very special place.

🌷 IT’S YATES SPRINGTIME AT ARALUEN STARTS TODAY! 🌷

Today, 4 September, marks the official opening of It's Yates Springtime at Araluen, and we’re ready to welcome you to one of the most beautiful times of the year at Araluen Botanic Park.

With an incredible collection of 250,000 tulips and 50,000 spring bulbs including daffodils, hyacinths, iris, jonquils, liliums and more bringing colour to the gardens, spring at Araluen is about much more than flowers. Throughout September and till 18th of October, there’s plenty to see, taste and enjoy across the Park.

🌷 FIRST BLOOMS OF 2026 ARE HERE! 🌷

These are our very first photos of the 2026 tulips in bloom at Araluen Botanic Park — and spring has well and truly arrived!

We’re now just days away from the official opening of It’s Yates Springtime at Araluen this Friday, 4 September.

We’d love to welcome you for opening day, but don’t worry if Friday doesn’t work for you. There are already plenty of tulips bursting into colour, with different areas of the Park blooming at different times throughout the festival.

That’s part of the magic of tulip season at Araluen — every visit can look a little different. 🌷

A little insider tip from us: if you have the flexibility, plan your visit on a weekday. You’ll generally have a little more space to wander, slow down and find those perfect photo spots amongst the tulips.

And one of the questions we’re asked most often:

Do I need to buy my ticket online, or can I purchase it at the Park?

Both! You’re welcome to purchase your tickets online in advance or simply buy them when you arrive.

So there’s no need to overthink it. Pick a day that suits you, plan your visit and come enjoy spring in the Perth Hills.

We’ll be waiting for you — and so will the tulips. 🌷

Tulip season is almost here 🌷

Making plans around flowers, driving to the Perth Hills just for the tulips, taking 47 photos of the same flower… and then saying “one more photo” another 15 times.
