“It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible” President George Washington

Australians share common core values, which whilst not unique to Australia, are expressed in our own unique way. Drawing on colloquialisms, our values include such things as being ‘fair dinkum’, and the value of a ‘fair go for all’. Our society’s values are based on our Judeo-Christian heritage, which are ultimately outlined within the Bible. We are unapologetic about basing our policies, and core values upon this, our heritage. So, what are these core values? Honesty and Integrity: (being ‘fair dinkum’)...

Hope...

Respect...

Moral Law...

Freedom...

Justice...

Sacrifice...

Last night, Maryka Groenewald MLC for Western Australia again pressed the Government for basic transparency around the Respectful Relationships program being rolled out in our schools. After months of questions, we finally saw a small step forward: the Government has now confirmed on the record that if she wants to see these materials, she needs to ask Starick directly.

That's why, earlier today, Maryka’s office wrote to Starick formally requesting the curricula, manuals, lesson outlines, resource packs, guidelines and any other materials provided to teachers and schools that opt into the program.

Once we receive a response, we will share an update so parents, educators and the wider community can see exactly what is being taught in the name of “respectful relationships” and “gender equality” in WA classrooms.

Amazing news! Thank you, Sarah Game MLC!

Amazing news! Thank you, Sarah Game MLC!

PRO‑LIFE WIN! 💛

Well done Sarah Game MLC.

Her Bill to restrict late‑term abortions has just passed the South Australian Upper House 10–9 – a huge step forward for protecting viable unborn babies.

Now that we’ve seen South Australia do it, it’s time to bring that same energy to WA.

Let’s pass the Born Equal Amendment Bill and make sure every baby born alive in Western Australia – including those who survive terminations – is recognised as a person and given the same care as any other newborn 🙏

A big shout out to Dr Joanna Howe as well, for her pivotal advocacy and policy role in making this happen

UPDATE:
Sadly, The Bill failed to pass the Lower House, but it doesn’t take away from what was achieved! For life! 💛🙏

Recently, Maryka Groenewald MLC for Western Australia asked a Question without Notice about the implementation of recommendations from the Ombudsman’s 2020 report, Preventing su***de by children and young people. It was a fairly good response, and she will now be following up directly with the Ombudsman to request a further progress report on how these recommendations are being carried out.

No young person should feel so disconnected, desperate or purposeless that they believe their life is not worth living. Australian Christians is committed to ensuring every member of our community is given the attention, resources and support they need to choose life and find hope.

This story in The Australian is deeply troubling, but sadly, not surprising. It reports serious concerns about a Sydney gender clinic linked with ACON, including allegations of an “unauthorised” paediatric gender service, poor clinical governance, and inadequate documentation around the use of puberty blockers and cross‑sex hormones for minors. Even though the clinic has not (yet) been found guilty of wrongdoing, this is alarming.

What this case highlights is a much wider problem: around the world, evidence is mounting that medical gender interventions on minors carry significant long‑term risks to their physical and mental health. Australian Christians have been vocal about the harms of puberty blockers and cross‑sex hormones for minors, and the need to establish watchful waiting and strong psychosocial support as the standard approach.

At Australian Christians, we believe it is not enough to simply oppose so‑called voluntary assisted dying. We reject doctor‑assisted su***de because it undermines the sanctity of life and suggests that a life marked by hardship or pain is not worth living.

We also know many people turn to VAD out of deep despair, driven by illness, suffering and the feeling that they cannot go on. That is why, wherever a person lives – city, rural or remote – they should have access to world‑class palliative care that walks with them, relieves their pain and helps them live well to the end. The technology and medical expertise exist to keep people comfortable and cared for when they are elderly or very sick, and no one should feel pushed towards death because that care is out of reach.

If you want to support a party that is unashamedly pro‑life and committed to better palliative care for every Australian, join Australian Christians today:

Earlier today, Maryka Groenewald MLC for Western Australia led Non‑Government Business in the Legislative Council. This is the one time each year when she can set the agenda in the chamber. She used this opportunity to move a motion on an issue that has concerned her for a long time: the availability of sexually inappropriate books for minors in public spaces, particularly in children’s sections of public libraries.

The motion was simple and reasonable: affirm the importance of public libraries, note the concern about inappropriate material being made available to children, affirm that parents have a right to know that the content in children’s sections is safe, and establish a system of review to ensure titles are appropriate for young readers. Unfortunately, the Government chose to oppose the motion instead of supporting these basic protections.

Please let us know in the comments what you thought of Maryka's speech!

Last night in the Legislative Council, Maryka Groenewald MLC for Western Australia asked a Question without Notice about deeply troubling reports of a student who was assaulted near an abandoned warehouse, despite multiple complaints from nearby schools and parents about antisocial behaviour at the site.

Child safety must always come first. But the Minister's answers missed some key aspects of what Maryka was asking. The Government needs to move quickly to properly engage with the victim’s family, to work with schools and local residents, and to ensure that this site is made secure so that students and parents can have confidence that children are safe travelling to and from school.

Earlier today, Maryka Groenewald MLC for Western Australia tabled the Parliamentary e‑petition she launched alongside community champion Peter Abetz, containing nearly 2,300 signatures.

The petition calls on the Government to ensure that any reforms to the Equal Opportunity Act continue to respect the right of Christian and other faith‑based schools to make staffing decisions in line with their beliefs!

Thank you to every West Australian who added their name and helped send a clear message that faith communities must not be left out of this conversation.

Next time you have a Labor MP knocking on your door, ask them how they will vote on the Equal Opportunity Act!

As a society, we spend enormous amounts of time and money on su***de prevention; and rightly so! We recognise that su***de is a tragic loss. Yet when a person is in despair because of illness, pain or profound loneliness in old age, our laws now hold a tragic double standard: doctor‑assisted su***de is offered as an option, effectively telling them that this particular kind of despair is something to give in to, rather than something to be supported through.

At the Australian Christians, we are unapologetically for universal su***de prevention. That means standing against voluntary assisted dying and standing for better support for those who are sick, lonely, in pain or elderly, because the value of a human life does not come with an expiry date.
