Europe is sweltering from its hottest recorded heat wave with 40 people drowning in France, trying to escape the heat, 2300 heat related deaths, hundreds of schools forced to close and transport interruptions. And this is only July, before the impending El Nino and France's formerly hottest month of August.

We don't normally share audio interviews but this one stood out with the interviewee from Copernicus squarely attributing this exceptional heat to the burning of fossil fuels as the foremost cause. All too often the media is shy of mentioning our fossil fuel driven climate crisis when reporting on extreme weather. Good on you Copernicus ECMWF

Global report provides an alternative to climate breakdown, political extremism and economic tensions

An El nino is 90% certain to return this year and will “pour fuel on the fire of a warming world”. It will bring worse floods, fires, extreme heat and heat related deaths and a host of other increased levels of extreme weather including hurricanes and droughts depending where you live. It will make food production even harder in many parts of the world already struggling from the impacts of the forever war on fertilisers.

Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary General warns “the world must treat it as the urgent climate warning it is.”
“The only effective response is climate action equal to the crisis – ending the addiction to fossil fuels, accelerating the shift to renewables, protecting the most vulnerable, and delivering early-warning systems for all.”

Enough it Enough!
