💛 Creating space for conversations about mental health and wellbeing 💛

In line with World Mental Health Day today, we’ve installed the first Yellow Bench in the VenuesWest portfolio at Perth HPC, providing a simple, visible way to encourage connection and conversations around mental health ⭐

The bench features a QR code linking visitors to mental health support services and resources, making it easier to find help or learn more when it’s needed.

The Yellow Bench Project, an initiative by RichMind WA, transforms everyday spaces into places of connection, helping Western Australians find the courage to show up, listen and support one another, while bridging the gap between formal mental health services and community-based prevention.

We’re proud to bring this initiative to Perth HPC and help create a space where conversations about mental health can start ✨

✨ Championing Dreams Since ’86 – Carlo Tizzano ✨

Carlo Tizzano has been part of the WA Rugby Centre and HBF Park community since he was 14 years old. It's where he first dreamed of playing for the Wallabies and, more than a decade later, where he continues to train today. From cheering on the Western Force at HBF Park as a fan to representing both the Force and Wallabies himself, these venues have been the backdrop to the memories, milestones and achievements that have shaped his career.

More than 5,000 university athletes from across Australia will descend on Perth tomorrow as the 2026 UniSport Nationals get underway, with several VenuesWest venues set to host competitions across six sports 🏐🏀⚽

The event is one of Australia's largest multi-sport competitions and will see students competing for national titles across 32 different sports ✨

Held from 26 September to 3 October, the UniSport Nationals will see venues across Perth buzzing with student athletes, showcasing elite university sport and VenuesWest's world-class facilities.

🎉 Arena Joondalup will host two competitions during the week. Netball will run from Monday 28 September to Friday 2 October, while AFL Nines, (a fast-paced, non-contact, nine-a-side version of Australian Rules Football played on smaller fields), will take place from Tuesday 29 September to Thursday 1 October.

🎉 At the Perth HPC, Water Polo athletes from universities across the country will compete from Monday 28 September to Friday 2 October.

🎉 Champion Lakes Regatta Centre will welcome Australia's top university rowers from Tuesday 29 September to Friday 2 October.

🎉 The Bendat Basketball Centre will host basketball competitions from Monday 28 September to Friday 2 October, and the Perth Motorplex will stage cycling events on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 September.

We're super proud to announce that from 19-28 September 2026, VenuesWest will again host the VolleyWest national competitions at the Bendat Basketball Centre, Gold Netball Centre and Arena Joondalup.

Plus, in a separate event by Volleyball WA, the WA Country State Championships will be held at Arena Joondalup.

The event will bring thousands of athletes, officials and spectators to our venues, showcasing our world-class sporting facilities and supporting the local economy ✨🏐

🏐 Sunday 20 to Friday 25 September: Bendat Basketball Centre, Gold Netball Centre and Arena Joondalup will host the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships

🏐 Saturday 26 to Monday 28 September: Bendat Basketball Centre and Gold Netball Centre will host the Australian Club Volleyball Championships

🏐 Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September: Top Western Australian teams will complete at Arena Joondalup in the Volleyball WA - Alcohol. Think Again WA Country State Championships.

Since joining Containers for Change in 2020, VenuesWest has collected more than 470,000 containers and donated almost $47,000 in container refund revenue to our Community Partners.
As WA's largest social enterprise collector in the Containers for Change scheme, Good Sammy creates employment opportunities for Western Australians with disability.

For the past seven years, Blake has been part of the Arena Joondalup community, using our facilities to support his journey competing in the Special Olympics.

From the moment he first walked through the doors, Blake found a welcoming environment that felt like the right fit. Since then, he's continued to return, pursuing his goals and making Arena Joondalup part of his journey.

Australia's best swimmers are coming to Perth HPC in 2027!

Around 500 athletes are expected to compete in Western Australia's first national pool swimming championship in more than a decade.

Held just one year before LA 2028, the event will give spectators a chance to see our local and national heroes in action as they prepare for the Olympic and Paralympic games.
