The Australian Institute of TheatreSports® was officially formed early 1996 however it had been operating through Sanderson-Green Personal Development Consultants since 1989. It was was founded when Michael and Angela Sanderson-Green identified a need for creative leaning opportunities for people of all ages. They wanted to create an environment where individuals can learn and grow in a safe but c

hallenging way. Their love of drama and their belief that everyone can achieve greatness motivated them to design and deliver these programs to groups across all spectrums of abilities and cultural backgrounds. Since starting AITS Michael and Angela have shared their love and passion for TheatreSports with their three children. Poppin Sanderson-Green officially joined the organisation in 2008 as a facilitator and in 2016 became a director of the organisation. With a Behavioural Science degree behind her she looks forward to pursuing her passion for improvisation and community development. The company's Mission Statement is to promote, teach and develop improvised acting skills with people of all ages and abilities in a way that develops meaningful life skills in a fun learning environment.

Combining our backgrounds in Occupational Therapy and Behavioural Science with our experience running Theatresports competitions, we’ve developed techniques for working with children with a wide range of educational needs.

In our final reflection post for the week, we look back on our travels to Cocos Island school and Wangkatjunga Remote Aboriginal School. We loved having the experience of running improvised theatre programs with students in regional and remote WA. Providing an opportunity for students who do not usually have access to drama, or creative facilities, an opportunity to learn drama and improvisation skills , is something we take pride in.

We are continuing to reflect on past projects as we look back on an inter-house competition from 2006. We love these competitions as they are an excellent way to create a fun, competitive activity that is non-sport focused. Seeing student’s creativity and drama skills come to life is something we love to celebrate.
