Following the Alkimos Central Town Centre streetscape landscaping that was completed in December 2025, landscaping along Romeo Road between Mitchell Freeway and Marmion Avenue is now complete.

As part of this, Landscape Elements have worked with Replants and Noongar Elder Farley Garlett to relocate over 900 grass trees within the site. This process includes preparing the trees for transpant by initially burning them before transporting them and re-planting in their new home.

Watch to see how we've saved the grass trees and reinvigorated Romeo Road.

🌳 First parks and playground open in Heartwood Bentley 🐦

It was wonderful to welcome local residents to the new public open spaces in Heartwood Bentley on Saturday as we hosted a Stage 1 parks opening community get together.

Families enjoyed some complimentary treats thanks to Doing Co and Heartwood Collective, and the kids had a blast testing out the features and climbing on the rainbow bee-eater at the Heartwood Boulevard playground.

Stage 1 parks within Heartwood Bentley are filled with biodiversity elements like bird baths, insect hotels, and bird watching opportunities, and you can find out more about how we’re incorporating nature here - https://ap1.hubs.ly/H01s8st0

With Stage 1 landscaping now complete and first homes being built, we’re excited to open these spaces and welcome the public to explore what we’ve created at Heartwood Bentley.

Stage 1A and 1B civil works have commenced to deliver up to 130 lots at Mulataga, our newest master planned community in Karratha.

To mark the commencement of works, Ngarluma Elder Ms Kerry- Anne Churnside led a Smoking Ceremony and we were also honoured to have Ngarluma Elder Pansy Hicks join us for this important occasion.

Located approximately three kilometres east of Karratha's city centre, Mulataga is expected to eventually accommodate up to 1,300 homes and a future population of up to 3,900 people.

Stage 1A and 1B will also provide land for Government Regional Officer Housing and social housing to support a diverse and permanent community. Providing housing for essential workers helps local services attract and retain staff, supporting the long-term growth of the Karratha community.

A neighbourhood park, along with pedestrian pathways to encourage an active and connected community, will form part of Stage 1.

We have appointed Karratha contractor Norwest Group to undertake the civil works, supporting local employment opportunities during the construction phase.

Stage 1 of Mulataga is being delivered in partnership with the City of Karratha with support from $22.1 million in Commonwealth funding.

Sales of the first residential lots will commence in 2027.

MARISOL AT LEFROY TAKES SHAPE WITH FIRST LAND RELEASE

Stage 1 at Marisol at Lefroy was recently released, marking an important step in the transformation of the former Beaconsfield TAFE site.

The first release included 25 single residential lots, offering a mix of rear-loaded cottage lots and traditional street-frontage lots, supporting a range of housing choices in this well-connected inner-urban location.

Meaning ‘sea and sun’ in Spanish, Marisol reflects its elevated coastal setting, just one kilometre from South Beach, and its connection to Fremantle’s vibrant culture.

Spanning 3.8 hectares, the precinct will deliver up to 155 homes and forms part of the broader Lefroy redevelopment. Together with the adjacent Kinway at Lefroy precinct, the project will ultimately deliver up to 700 homes.

Lefroy has been planned to provide a diverse mix of housing, from single residential lots to apartments, alongside up to 20 per cent social and affordable housing, supporting a vibrant and inclusive community.

More land releases are scheduled in the coming months.

🌸 Heartwood Bentley is in full bloom with the community coming together to make a meaningful impact 🌸

We were proud to collaborate with Town Team Movement at the Festival of Doing which brought hundreds of participants to the area to paint road art designed by local school students, activate the netball courts with colourful new additions, and take part in a Heartwood Collective mini makeover.

The festival encouraged attendees to get hands-on and was a great reminder of what communities can achieve when they come together for a shared cause.

We also celebrated the opening of Heartwood Collective; the new community hub located at the former Bentley community garden and Scout Hall site.

Heartwood Collective is run by a group of volunteers who are reinventing and activating the space, with the goal of bringing neighbours together and fostering community spirit.

The 1909 Subi East precinct is now open!
We have transformed the former Princess Margaret Hospital site into an elevated community space that honours the history of its past and leads the area into an exciting new future.
Explore the lush landscaping, PMH memorial garden and hospital timeline, new playground, and revitalised Thomas Street underpass which once again connects West Perth and Subiaco.
Works are continuing on six lots in the precinct which will provide around 1,000 residential apartments once complete.

🏗️🏠 Construction is underway at Woodbridge and Rivervale

We’ve reached an important milestone, with the Woodbridge and Rivervale apartment developments now under construction — the first step in delivering one of the largest affordable and social housing programs in Western Australia’s history.

These first two developments being constructed by EMCO Building will deliver 100 new one and two bedroom apartments, with construction at Redcliffe also starting in June. The remaining developments will progressively begin construction throughout 2026.

📍 🌱 Supporting a mix of affordable and social housing close to public transport, services and employment, these 14 build-to-rent developments will deliver 1,145 new homes across Perth. Around 80% will be affordable housing and 20% social housing, with homes designed to be energy efficient, climate responsive and accessible.

🤝 DevelopmentWA is proud to be partnering with EMCO Building, PACT Construction and ICON Construction to deliver these developments, supporting the State and Federal Governments to help more Western Australians have a place to call home.

🌿 A milestone moment at 195 Pier Street

Late last month, we marked 195 Pier Street reaching its full height with a traditional tree‑hoisting ceremony on the rooftop – a centuries‑old construction tradition that signals a building has reached full height and recognises the work still to come.

This moment brought project partners together on site and offered a striking view across Perth’s C*D, highlighting just how centrally connected this future build‑to‑rent development will be.

▶️ Watch the video to see the milestone marked on site and hear more about this important project.

Once complete, 195 Pier Street will deliver 219 rental apartments, including social and affordable homes, supporting access to well‑located housing close to transport, jobs and services.

Thank you to Icon, HASSELL, and the broader project team for their continued collaboration in delivering this important inner‑city housing project.

🎉 195 Pier Street reaches full height 🎉

We’ve marked a major construction milestone at 195 Pier Street, with the building’s structure now complete and the 29‑storey tower reaching its full height.

This is a significant step towards delivering much‑needed housing in Perth’s C*D. Once complete, 195 Pier Street will provide 219 rental apartments, including 66 social homes and 44 affordable homes, alongside market rentals.

The development will be owned and operated by a Community Housing Provider, supporting long‑term, secure and high‑quality housing for the community.

Located close to public transport, jobs, education and services, 195 Pier Street is designed to support a diverse and inclusive inner‑city community and help more Western Australians access well‑located housing.

Thank you to Icon for leading construction on site, Hassell for the architectural design, and the broader project team for their continued collaboration in delivering this important project.
