WA 🫱🏼‍🫲🏼 Endurance Swimming

Backed by $2.55million from the WA Government, and in partnership with Swimming Australia, WAIS and Swimming WA, WA’s new Endurance Swimming Hub will support elite athletes and emerging talent, cementing our State as the national home of endurance swimming 🙌

The Hub will provide a dedicated high-performance environment to train and integrated performance support services, while strengthening pathways for emerging talent, as well as opportunities for para swimmers competing across other swimming disciplines🚀

WA is set to become the new home of endurance swimming. 🌊

Perth will soon be home to Australia’s first and only dedicated Endurance Swimming Hub, following a $2.55 million investment from the Cook Government.

The Hub will create new opportunities for WA’s distance and open water swimmers to train, develop and compete at the highest level - right here at home.

WAIS graduate Matt Wearn OAM has stormed home with a final-day masterclass to claim World Championship silver in Ireland, after sitting ninth heading into the finals! 🎉

A huge congrats to the latest round of the VenuesWest Ambassadors, 5 of the 6 athletes named are WAIS athletes 🎉

The 2026-27 ambassador cohort includes:
• Luke Egger – WAIS athlete, Canoe Sprint, Australian Senior Team;
• Taishar Ovens – WAIS athlete, Wheelchair Basketball, Australian Gliders;
• Katelyn Smith – WAIS athlete, Para Unit, Football, ParaMatildas;
• Alanah Yukich – WAIS athlete, Hurdles, Australian Team;
• Alyssa Burgess – WAIS athlete, Swimming, Australia A Swim Team; and
• Anika Gosling – Discus.

Since its inception in 2017, the VenuesWest Ambassador Program has provided $252,000 to more than 30 Western Australian athletes who have gone on to represent Australia or their sport at the highest level 🚀

With six years to go until Brisbane 2032, the Para Futures Cup has been created to give emerging Para athletes the opportunity to compete on a national stage and take the next step on their high-performance journey 🙌

Athletes from across the country will join forces in four state and territory teams, creating a unique national competition designed to support the next generation of Australian Paralympians 🥇
