🙏 Our Pilates class is running as planned on Saturday from 9.30am — we look forward to moving with you 🙋‍♀️

😊 Our chair dancing class is running as planned on Monday from 10am - we look forward to dancing with you 👯

🎵 Our Dementia Singing Group is running on Monday as planned from 1pm — we look forward to seeing our wonderful singers and supporters 😊

🛍️ Please note our Mobile Foodbank and Op Shop will be closed this Monday only, and will re-open as usual next week, with the op shop open Tuesday-Thursday as normal.

👋 Say hello to Southcare Hero Nancy! 👋

Nancy is one of our valued vollies and is always ready to help, as she says, “wherever I’m needed”.

Often that’s right here in the office, and her bubbly personality is welcomed by participants when she calls for a chat.

When we asked her why she volunteers, she says “to make a difference” and that’s exactly what she (and all of our volunteers) do.

The theme of National Volunteer Week is “your year to volunteer” so if you’ve been wanting to make a difference and give back, our door is open to you too.

As we start National Volunteer Week, we're pleased to recognise some of our participants who generously donate their time, energy and lived experience to help shape the future of aged care 💙

These participants join fellow Southcarers as part of our Caring Hands Advisory Group. Together this team meets to share feedback and shape improvements to help all of our Southcare Stars. Afterall, listening to our participants is how we care and continue to improve.

Our fabulous op shop has been run by volunteers since 1983 and since that time has helped thousands of people in our community by raising vital funds and providing affordable clothing, homewares and more.

That's why it feels a little ironic to share that, as we approach National Volunteer Week, we need to temporarily close the shop on Monday 18 May and Monday 25 May due to a shortage of volunteers.

If you have ever thought about giving back to your community, this is your moment.

Our Op Shop is normally open four days a week, and even a few hours of your time can make a meaningful difference. You will join a friendly and supportive team, meet wonderful people and help us continue supporting those who need it most.

The theme of International Nurses Day is 'Our Nurses, Our Future' which is exactly what our in-house team are doing as we look to deliver the care of the future 💙🫶

Quality and Clinical Risk Manager Nikki, Senior Registered Nurse Alana and Registered Nurse Amanda support our participants every day, helping them with clinical care, wellness checks and reassurance in the comfort of their home.

Nursing is so much more than a profession. It is a calling built on kindness, expertise and a genuine commitment to others, and we thank our nurses for using their caring hands.

Social connection comes in many ways, and today it is happening over a friendly game of Scrabble. 🎲💙

Say hello to Southcarer Jose and Southcare Star Gina, who are sharing plenty of laughs, conversation and a little healthy competition one letter at a time.

Our regular games group meets every Tuesday from 7pm in our Community Hall, playing all sorts of awesome games for when you want some extra company and connection.
