The City's next Residential Bulk Verge Collection will take place on Monday, 14 September. 🚛

All City of Perth residents can put their bulk waste out between 6am Saturday, 12 September and 6am Monday, 14 September.

The collection will remove:
• Garden waste
• Electronic waste
• Small electrical items: including kettles, toasters and vacuums
• Refrigerators/freezers (doors removed)
• Stoves and other white goods
• Mattresses
• Old furniture and
• Other household items.

Hazardous waste, including paint, chemicals, gas cylinders, tyres, construction waste, and vehicle parts, will not be collected.

The Everlasting Kings Park Festival is back this September, bringing the beauty of WA’s wildflowers to life across one of Perth’s most iconic green spaces.

Explore thousands of native wildflowers and plant species, join a guided walk, get creative at a workshop or enjoy family-friendly activities throughout the festival.

Haiku on Hay competition winners have been announced 📚

Well done to everyone who shared their creativity in this year’s Haiku on Hay Poetry Competition, with more than 200 entries received from across WA.

Now in its third year, the City of Perth Library competition, delivered in partnership with WA Poets Inc - Perth Poetry Festival, invited WA residents to put their poetry skills to the test across four age categories.

Congratulations to all this year’s winners and participants! The winning haikus will be on display in the Library’s Ground Floor cabinets until the end of September.

We are delighted to be shortlisted in two categories at the 2026 Landscape Australia Awards, which recognise the nation’s leading landscape and urban design projects.

The Shaping Perth City Centre: Towards 2036 and Beyond study is one of 13 shortlisted projects in the Analysis and Planning category.

Playful Perth is among 10 shortlisted projects in the Research, Policy and Communications category.

The award winners will be announced in October.

With lived experience of prostate cancer, Ken will share insights into the risks, early detection, treatment options and support available for men, their partners and families.

Prostate cancer affects 1 in 5 Australian men during their lifetime. Learning about the risks and prioritising your health can make a difference.

🐢 Help keep our Snake-necked Turtles safe this nesting season

Nesting season is here! From September to November, our precious Snake-necked Turtles leave wetlands to find safe places to lay their eggs.

Keep an eye out for turtles around David Carr Memorial Park, Lake Vasto, Queens Gardens, Point Fraser and Claisebrook Lake.

Please:
• Take care when driving or riding near wetlands and lakes
• Keep dogs on a lead around waterways
• If you see a turtle near a road, protect her from traffic if it’s safe to do so
• Don’t interfere with turtles or disturb nesting sites
• Report injured or at-risk turtles to the Wildcare Helpline on 9474 9055
• Record turtle sightings through the TurtleSAT app to support citizen science

It’s normal for turtles to be on the move during nesting season. If you’re unsure what to do, call Wildcare on 9474 9055 for advice. 🐢

Happy Wattle Day! 🌼

On 1 September every year, we celebrate the start of the Australian spring with our national floral emblem– Acacia.

This year we are highlighting the Acacia saligna or Coojong, which can be grown as a specimen and is available as robust groundcover or used in regeneration projects.

Our landscapes are filled with splashes of yellow, heralding the change of season, whilst our local fauna love the floriferous blooms.

You can see Acacia saligna proudly on display in the main entrance to Stirling Gardens.
