4/9 The Fire Danger rating for tomorrow is HIGH due to 25C temps and 50+km/hr NW winds.
Fire danger ratings give you an indication of the consequences of a fire, if one was to start. The higher the fire danger, the more dangerous the conditions.
🔥 Landholders are urged to:
• Postpone all planned pile burning until conditions ease.
• Regularly check any pile burns conducted in recent weeks.
• Ensure burnt piles are completely extinguished, including checking for heat or smouldering material beneath the surface.
• Continue monitoring old burn sites while strong winds persist.
Remember, fines can apply if you fail to notify the RFS before lighting a fire or if your fire escapes your property.
If you see an unattended fire, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
🚫 Don’t be the fire risk to your community.

The Bush Fire Danger Period of the Wingecarribee Shire Council and Wollondilly Shire Council areas has been brought forward to 14 September due to prevailing dry conditions. This means that a Fire Permit will be required from 14 September to light or maintain fire in the open.

Residents and land holders should also ensure they understand the rules around the use of fire. Along with required fire permits, you must also notify your local fire authority and neighbours of your intent to burn 24 hours in advance.

To apply for a Fire Permit visit www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify and be sure to give us as much notice as possible as a Fire Permit Officer will need to visit your property prior to issuing a permit.

Know the risks for your area, have a bush fire survival plan and discuss what you and your family will do if threatened by fire.

23/8 In the early hours of this morning the Brigade was called to a single vehicle MVA s-bound on the Hume near the Mackey VC rest area. The vehicle had hit an animal and was not drivable. After assessment by us and F&R 242 the vehicle was deemed to be safe. Emergency tape was put on it (so it is not called in again) and it was left to be towed later.
Luis' 2nd call-out this time he made it on-scene and out of the truck.

⚠️ Increased Wind Forecast ⚠️

Forecast winds across the Wingecarribee Shire Council and Wollondilly Shire Council areas are set to increase from later this evening, with predictions indicating peak gusts in excess of 90km/hr predicted tomorrow. This poses increased risks of escaped pile burns that have been conducted over the last few weeks.

All pile burning should be immediately postponed until conditions ease. We request that landholders check all pile burns that have been conducted recently to ensure thorough extinguishment.

Fine can apply if you fail to notify the RFS or if a fire leaves your property. If you see unattended fire, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Don’t be the fire risk to your community!

2 more of your Brigade's members have completed the NSW RFS Arduous pack test. This requires firefighters to walk 4.83 km on flat ground in 45 minutes or less while carrying a 20.4 kg pack or weight vest. It is the basic requirement for overseas deployment or becoming a remote area fire-fighter
Congratulations to both of you and the others who completed the test
