During National Volunteer Week we’re saying thank you to all our Tasmania Fire Service volunteers who support our brigades and their communities.
It's been a big year for Bicheno Brigade who have gone through major changes - from minimal numbers which was challenging, to their membership rising significantly in recent months.
Brigade members come from a wide range of backgrounds, but they share a love of the local area, and a willingness to help others.
They are a group who come together, with positive energy, keen to improve and learn new skills, while creating a social community.
The core members continue to lead by example, with a strong level of dedication and commitment. Despite a period of low participation, the brigade was able to contribute to the initial response to the Dolphin Sands fire last year which was a significant achievement and learning experience.
From assisting police with road crashes, to bushfire responses, and continual training - the dedicated volunteers provide assistance to residents and visitors across the small Bicheno community.
With eight new recruits currently working their way through training, it could be an ideal time for more new recruits to sign up to the Brigade.
