PRESERVING OUR PAST FOR THE FUTURE

The Penguin History Group is a small group of enthusiastic volunteers devoted to caring for and promoting the heritage of the district with our rooms being part of the former Penguin Railway Station. Our group has an active core group of members who meet on a weekly basis and our facilities are open to the public on Wednesday mornings and evenings at present. Th

e objects and purposes of the group include-
: To collect & collate historical records & memorabilia relevant to the Penguin
district & to make them available for public display.
: To promote items & events of historical interest.
: To collect & collate oral histories of the Penguin district.
: To record & encourage the preservation of items of significant historical
interest in the Penguin district.
: To promote & conduct public events, functions & displays to promote

Penguin & South Riana Cemetery Records,
Tapes of local identities memories,
BDM Records,

Just a reminder of the official opening of this year's Photographic Exhibition featuring the Penguin Surf Club - this Sunday afternoon, 28 June 2026, starts at 2pm at the Penguin Railway Station.

The photo shows 4 former members of the Penguin Surf Club - from left to right - Ernie Ling, Trevor Dunham, Reg Peebles & Bill Smith.

Does anyone know Mrs E Anderson of West Pine? (Advocate, Friday. 18 August 1961).
Further information on this post:- This is likely to be Ethel Maude Anderson, her husband was James Harvey Anderson according to the 1964 Braddon Electoral Roll.

ADVANCE NOTICE!
The PHG will be opening its annual Exhibition at the Station on Sunday, June 28th 2026, at 2pm. This year the focus is on the Penguin Surf Life Saving Club . The display will run for the rest of the year, and we encourage those interested to drop in on a Monday afternoon or Wednesday morning.
