Parkes East Public School

Parkes East Public School Parkes East PS provides a rich learning environment to enable students to experience success in their area of strength.

The School has a population of 306 pupils. Our community is very supportive of the school, with many parents involved in classroom teaching programs. We use a contemporary organisation related directly to the new curriculum statements released by the New South Wales Board of Studies. Special school features include high level computer networking, strong student welfare, academic and sporting progr

ams. To cater for individual pupil needs and outcomes our school community has embraced many of the beliefs of Outcome Based Education. Staff and parents plan actions to address the beliefs that all children can learn and succeed, that success breeds success, and that schools control the conditions for success. Staff, families and community work together to provide students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and experience needed to participate in our society. Our staff endeavour to provide education that is relevant to needs and aspirations of pupils, responsive to community expectations, effective in achievement of high quality educational programs and efficient in the use of resources.

PEPS Debaters
Congratulations to our 2 PEPS debating teams for completing their first debate and doing an amazing job! PEPS Parrots were the affirmative, with the team consisting of Freyja, Ryan, Vivienne and Tom. PEPS Penguins were the negative, with Laylah, Oliver, Emily and Jackson (who slotted in this morning as Nikiaha was unwell). The topic was "That schools should stop hiring cleaners and instead make students who break rules do all the work". The PEPS Parrots were able to convince the adjudicator of this and won the debate. A fabulous effort by all debaters. Special thanks to Jackson for slotting in last minute with no experience with debating, Harry for time keep and Annaliese for chairing the debate. Our next debate for the PEPS Parrots is next week, against the Forbes Public Word Wizards.

Rise Above Self: Week 8, Term 2
Congratulations Jack Hunter

Jack's consistent application across all aspects of school makes him a worthy recipient of the Rise Above Self. Jack gives his best daily, starting off by always being a warm, considerate and empathetic friend to all. Jack is conscious of his peers and goes out of his way to ensure they feel safe and in the best environment possible for learning. He is kind to all and upholds the school value of respect towards students and staff alike.
Jack consistently makes valuable contributions to lessons and his approach to learning this year has been exemplary. He is a leader in partner and group activities, and his progress has been evident in all learning areas. Jack is a respectful learner and assists those around him when called upon.
Jack's "can do" attitude is frequently demonstrated, whether he is entering the spelling bee, delivering his speech to his peers or trialling for sports teams. Jack wears uniform with pride and engages responsibly in the playground.
Congratulations Jack on a very well-deserved Rise Above Self.
