Today is Smoke Alarm Action Day!

Last year, nearly half the homes damaged or destroyed by fire in NSW did not have a working smoke alarm! Be smart and take part in Smoke Alarm Action Day, and test your smoke alarm works! A working smoke alarm is your best early warning sign of a fire, giving you and your loved ones the chance to get out, stay out, and call Triple Zero (000).

Thanks to the 417 crew for organising, setting up and helping show the public what we're all about 👨‍🚒 👩‍🚒

A very big thank you to Phil Dixon for his antique truck, he has supported our public events for many years. Phil was telling us about the truck he brought in today, it's the same model as the first motorised fire truck in Parkes. Phil's knowledge and dedication to the restoration of these trucks is paramount in keeping the history of fire fighting alive 🚒

We'll be back even bigger and better next year, we hope to see you there!

It's paper day! And we have some great local stories to share, including the Trundle ABBA Festival being a spectacular hit, our firefighters look back on their first 12 months Fire and Rescue NSW Station 417 Parkes, the town hosting hundreds for the U14s state hockey and Parkes Christian School ag teacher Kristen Temessl named a NSW Royal Agricultural Society Champion 👏
