⚠️ Elevated Fire Weather Forecast for Tomorrow ⚠️

While tomorrow officially marks the end of the Fire Danger Season, dry conditions remain across the state and continue to pose an increased fire risk.

This week alone, our volunteers have responded to more than 14 grass fires across the state, highlighting how quickly fires can start and spread.

🔥 With the risk still in the landscape, please take caution and remain vigilant when conducting any activity involving fire.

If conducting a burn, ensure a responsible person is in attendance at all times, water or a suitable fire extinguisher is available, and regularly check once the fire is extinguished to ensure it hasn't reignited. Ensure you follow any local restrictions or guidelines.

Your actions can help prevent unwanted fires and keep our communities safe.

Today is the official end to the 25/26 fire season and to celebrate this event, Paracombe CFS invited our neighbouring brigades, Cudlee Creek and Hermitage along to a bbq and the opportunity to spend some downtime together.
Deep Creek Conservation Park was the most significant incident this year, however the unfortunate reality is that the majority of our call-outs are for road crash incidents. Sadly this has included a number of fatalities which are always difficult to deal with.
On a more positive note, we thank the local community for its support and vigilance in maintaining their property and ensuring they have their bushfire plan in place.

Earlier this year, a number of our local brigades were called on for deployment to the Deep Creek fires. Paracombe was such a brigade that responded with a large number of our members going on deployment to a serious incident in difficult conditions and terrain.
This week we were presented with a gift basket by the CFS Foundation in conjunction with Limitless Quality Solutions as a token of their appreciation for our efforts.
( Looks like Chris has got his eye on an item in the gift box ! )

Training with a difference this week.
We don’t get many call-outs for Hazardous Material spills and / or leaks, however as a brigade, we need to have a working knowledge of the process in how to deal with them when they happen.
Specialist appliances are strategically positioned around the state with specialist crews that are ready to respond 24/7.
One such appliance is located as part of the Dalkeith CFS Brigade and they were good enough to bring their appliance to Paracombe CFS for a “show and tell” to give our members the opportunity to get some hands on experience with equipment that we don’t deal with on a regular basis.
As this presentation was out of the ordinary, we extended an invitation to our sister brigade, Hermitage, to attend as well.
Many thanks to the Dalkeith CFS crew who attended and presented on the night

TOTAL FIRE BANS have been declared for Tuesday 31 March 2026 in the following Fire Ban Districts:

Mount Lofty Ranges - Extreme

Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted.

The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow.

The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan.

Fire Danger Ratings
Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire.

What should you do
If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option.

In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions.

Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight.

Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions

A big night at Paracombe training last night with special guest Colin Kuchel in attendance so he could be personally thanked and see the work that has been completed following the assistance provided by Australian Outdoor Living.
We also played host to two German Backpackers who are currently working in the area. They were most impressed with the level of equipment and resources at our disposal.
The rest of the evening was spent behind the Paracombe Hall practising some of our training drills under a blood moon of the lunar eclipse creating quite a surreal background.

As a brigade of volunteers, we are regularly humbled by the level of support we receive from community individuals and businesses. This support comes in a variety of ways ranging from moral support to financial donations, all of which are gratefully accepted and utilised to improve our facilities, equipment and training.
An ongoing project nearing completion is the enclosure between the two buildings as shown in these photos. This work would not have been possible without the kind and generous donation of necessary building materials by AUSTRALIAN OUTDOOR LIVING. The improvement this has made to the storage of equipment and security is very much appreciated and valued by our membership.
THANK YOU !
