Our latest E-Waste Competition was our most successful collection yet, with an incredible 414 items collected, including some very large items.

Since launching the initiative last year, PBC has now diverted more than 1,300 items from landfill across three collections — a fantastic achievement for our school community and another great step towards a more sustainable future.

Congratulations to Athenians, who took out the win with an impressive 210 items, followed by Vikings with 114, Spartans with 70 and Phoenicians with 20.

A huge thank you to Tom Pasley and our Sustainability Club for all their hard work coordinating the collection, and to everyone who contributed their unwanted electronic items.

Final Results

A huge congratulations to Year 9 Visual Arts Excellence student Violetta, who has been named the winner of the 13–15 years category at the Wollumbin Youth Art Awards.

Violetta’s work is currently on exhibition at Tweed Regional Gallery until 25 October 2026.

An amazing achievement and wonderful recognition of Violetta’s creativity and talent. Congratulations, Violetta — we are incredibly proud of you!

A huge congratulations to Year 7 Netball Sports Excellence student Chloe, who has been selected in the Australian First Nations Schoolgirls Netball Team.

Chloe will proudly represent her nation in Darwin from 12–18 September, taking to the court in the green and gold.

This is an incredible achievement for Chloe and an exciting opportunity to compete at this level. We are incredibly proud and know she’ll do the Reds proud! Congratulations, Chloe!

Earlier this week, students Ayaka and Layla shared a taste of Japanese culture with PBC staff through their student-led Matcha event.

With both students having a personal connection to Japan, the event was a wonderful way to build connections between Japan and Australia, sharing culture, tradition and community through one of Japan’s most recognisable flavours.

PBC staff enjoyed Original Matcha Lattes and Matcha White Chocolate Biscuits, while experiencing a little taste of Japanese culture right here at PBC.

Well done, Ayaka and Layla, on bringing your idea to life and sharing something special with our staff.

Today, our PBC Music Excellence students are performing at the SWELL Sculpture Festival for the fourth year.

Our talented Reds will take to the stage at 2.00pm today, showcasing their music in one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic arts events.

As we move through R U OK? Day, remember that checking in with someone doesn’t need to be complicated.

If a friend, classmate or someone you care about doesn’t seem quite themselves, trust your instinct and ask:

“Are you OK?”

You don’t need to fix everything or have the right words. Taking the time to listen, show you care and let someone know they’re not alone can make a real difference.

Let’s keep looking out for each other, today and every day.

Today, our Main Quad came alive as we recognised R U OK? Day and encouraged our students to connect, check in with each other and start meaningful conversations.

Across both lunch breaks, students enjoyed live music, games, mental health and mindfulness activities, a Silent Disco and a gold coin donation Bake Sale, creating plenty of opportunities to come together and have some fun.

R U OK? Day is an important reminder that a simple conversation can make a difference — and that checking in with the people around us matters every day.

Sometimes a simple conversation can make a real difference. Today is a reminder to check in with the people around us, listen and make time for meaningful conversations — not just today, but every day.

Today is R U OK? Day, a reminder that the people around us experience life’s ups and downs every day.

We might underestimate the difference a simple check-in can make. Research from R U OK? shows that 9 in 10 people who are asked “Are you OK?” feel grateful, cared for and supported.

If someone has been on your mind or you’ve noticed a change in what they’re saying or doing, trust your instinct and start a conversation.

You don’t need to have all the answers. Sometimes simply asking “Are you OK?” can make a meaningful difference.

And remember, checking in doesn’t have to happen just today. Let’s keep the conversation going all year round.
