"It is with great sadness to have to announce the passing of Anne Sherry on the 6th of April 2025.
The funeral to be held on 28th of April at Our Lady Of The Rosary Wyoming Church at 10am followed by the burial at Palmdale Cemetery.
The wake will be held at Ourimbah RSL at 12 midday.
All are welcome."

I just want to let everyone know that OURIMBAH PUBLIC SCHOOL is celebrating a major milestone in history this month. Its 160 year Anniversary!!! The oldest operating school on the Central Coast which originally opened on October 13, 1863 as the records state. Congratulations Ourimbah Public School. Which means all these amazing pictures on this page from the Sesquicentenary Celebrations was 10 years ago! Doesn't seem all that long ago the school celebrated with so many past students, the amazing events of the day and the launch of the Ourimbah Public School History Book. Congratulations to all past and present Principals, teachers, students, assistants, canteen staff, grounds keepers, volunteers and P&C Committee. This school holds so many wonderful stories and I hope it continues to be a beautiful safe space for all to work, learn and play..... Cheers from me, Cat Soper who is admin of this page.

"Some of the members of the group will know my father, John Martin. Dad passed away yesterday after a short illness. He lived in Ourimbah for just over 50 years and made a contribution to the community as a school teacher at Ourimbah Primary for over 30 years and at various times as a player or committee member or coach with the Bowls Club, Junior Football Club and the Cricket Club. He also contributed to other community organisations. He will be sadly missed. His funeral is being held next Monday July 24, 2023 at 2.30pm at Palmdale."

All of us in this special group I'm sure send our condolences to Scott Martin and his family. RIP Mr John Martin.

Just letting you know for those who have the beautiful Ourimbah Public School History Book, John Dauth wrote about his recollections about being a student at Ourimbah Public School on page 129 but if you don't have a copy here is a screenshot and hope you can read it.

Posting another snippit of information on a past student. I recently came upon a post by Susan Fernance. She just happened to see a past student, John Dauth, on the SKY News broadcast recently and her post reads...
"I was excited to see an old Ourimbah school acquaintance John Dauth being interviewed on Sky TV this afternoon . John went to Ourimbah Public School in the fifties and was Dux of the school , a very bright pupil . Years later he became Prince Charles (now King Charles 111 ) Press Secretary and worked in other positions for the late Queen Elizabeth . Later he became Australia’s High Commissioner to UK. John lived in Palmdale Road Ourimbah growing up. A great achievement by a local boy from Ourimbah."

Hello everyone... it has been a long time since I have posted anything new on this page but I have recently been drawn to a wonderful podcast on ABC Conversations with Charmian Gadd.
A past student of Ourimbah Public School who is one of the most accomplished violinists in Australia. Here on the ABC podcast, Charmian talks about living in Ourimbah, walking to school, many of her lifes' journeys and musical achievements since. If you have the time please take a listen.
Also if you have a copy of the Ourimbah Public School History book, Charmian kindly wrote about her memories at the school which is a wonderful read. Congratulations Charmian Gadd.

Hi everyone... hope you're all doing ok these days. I have received a message from ANN FENNING who is trying to trace Jacob (Jake) Dyksterhuis who was a Railway man at Mount George near Wingham in the early 60s. Ann is writing a history of the railway there and a short paragraph or two about the employees. Hoping someone can put her in touch with him or his family. Not sure if he went to Ourimbah Public School but he was on the electoral rolls from 1963 to 1980. Ann has also spoken to the wife of a fellow who worked with him at Mount George and went to see Jake, or John as she called him, in Gosford. some years ago. If anyone knows of Jacob (Jake) Dyksterhuis feel free to message me and I can pass on details to Ann. Thank you everyone. Take care.
