Ourimbah Rural Fire Brigade Ourimbah Rural Fire Brigade We hold our general meeting the 3rd Tuesday of each month starting at 7.00pm. Members can join from 16+ as firefighters.

Training nights are held 1st, 4th (and 5th depending on the month) Tuesday of each month starting at 7.00pm. Maintenance nights are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month starting at 7:00pm. The Rural Fire Service is made up of volunteers from all walks of life - men and women from different cultural backgrounds, age groups and professions. Rural Fire brigades are a reflection of every local commun

ity. Becoming a volunteer firefighter is easier than most people think. Brigades offer training ranging from Bush Firefighting, Village Firefighting and First Aid through to Breathing Apparatus Operation as well as Rural Fire Driving, any so much more!! We don’t just offer firefighting roles, we have a multitude of areas that require volunteers, there is a job for nearly everyone in the RFS.

We rely heavily on the support of people from all backgrounds and cultures in our community. The people that make up our Service are as different as the society that we protect. The minimum age to join the Rural Fire Service as a volunteer is 16, if you are under the age of 16 please enquire about our Cadet programs. 🔥 IMPORTANT FIRE SAFETY INFORMATION – CENTRAL COAST & LAKE MACQUARIE 🔥

As we move out of winter and into spring, we can see a sudden shift to warmer, drier and windier conditions.

Tomorrow, Saturday 5 September 2026, residents across the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie need to be aware of the following Fire Danger Ratings and fire safety information.

🔥 FIRE DANGER RATINGS – SATURDAY 5 SEPTEMBER

📍 Central Coast LGA
EXTREME

📍 Lake Macquarie LGA
HIGH

🚫 TOTAL FIRE BAN – CENTRAL COAST LGA ONLY

A Total Fire Ban means no fires can be lit in the open, and restrictions apply to a range of activities that could start a fire.

⚠️ AVOID BURNING OFF

While we have not yet entered the Statutory Bush Fire Danger Period, which commences 1 October 2026, residents are strongly encouraged not to burn off tomorrow in either the Central Coast or Lake Macquarie LGAs.

The forecast combination of high temperatures and strong winds creates an increased risk of fire spreading quickly fo and becoming difficult to control.

Always ensure any burning is carried out in accordance with the relevant Council and fire safety requirements.

🏠 TAKE ACTION NOW TO PROTECT YOUR LIFE AND PROPERTY

✔️ Make sure your Bush Fire Survival Plan is up to date and everyone in your household knows what to do.

✔️ Re-check your property for potential hazards, including debris, overhanging branches, long grass and other flammable materials.

✔️ Stay informed through official emergency service channels and monitor changing conditions.

✔️ If conditions deteriorate or a fire threatens, be prepared to leave early.

Bushfire season is approaching – now is the time to get prepared.

You are invited to Ourimbah Rural Fire Station for Get Ready Weekend, a family-friendly community event designed to help you and your family prepare for bushfires and other emergencies.

Bring the kids along to meet local firefighters, explore the fire trucks, and learn how your family can be better prepared for the bushfire season. Our volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions and provide practical advice to help protect your home, your loved ones, and your property.
