Day 2 and 3 of our Year 5 Canberra excursion were packed with incredible experiences! πŸ§‘πŸ’™

On Day 2, students visited the Australian Institute of Sport where we were lucky enough to watch the National Men’s Gymnastics Team and the Senior Men’s Volleyball Team in action β€” and where Mr Seib was officially considered short! πŸ˜„

We then travelled out to Deep Space Communication Complex and learnt about the important role Australia has played in communication with space missions, as well as the very questionable food astronauts have to eat! πŸš€πŸ›°οΈ

The day finished at Questacon, where students explored all the hands-on exhibits and some very brave children (teachers!) finally achieved their lifelong dream of conquering the death-defying… but not really… giant slide! πŸ˜‚

On Day 3, we made our way to the top of Mount Ainslie to take in the amazing views over Canberra before visiting the Australian War Memorial. Students were fascinated by the military vehicles and displays, spending time exploring the tanks, aircraft and historical exhibits while learning about Australia’s history and service personnel. They were also excited to see artworks in real life at the National Gallery that they had previously studied back in Year 3. 🎨

A huge thank you to our bus drivers, teachers and parent helpers who supported the students throughout such a fantastic trip. The students represented our school beautifully and created many memories along the way!

A great afternoon of touch football against OPS on Friday at Cutcliffe! πŸ‰πŸ§‘πŸ’™

Our boys came away with the first win 7-5, with tries scored by Riley, Logan, Noah, Alex, Percy and Oscar (2). A fantastic team effort with great passing, support play and defence across the field. πŸ‘

Our girls also had an outstanding win 10-1, finishing with a big team performance. Try scorers were Heidi (3), Emme (4), Milly, Mia and Phoebe. The girls showed excellent teamwork, communication and determination all game long! 🌟

Thank you to OPS for the games and sportsmanship throughout the afternoon. We always appreciate the opportunity to compete against competitive and talented teams!

πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ Year 6 Fundraiser and Reconciliation Week πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ

Last week, our Year 6 students held a coin fundraiser to support future opportunities and resources for our school community.

As part of Reconciliation Week, donated coins were used to create a display featuring our school's name and a large Aboriginal meeting place symbol. The symbol represents people coming together to share stories, learn from one another and build connections. Reflecting this year's theme, All In, the artwork symbolises the strength of our school community and reminds us that reconciliation is everyone's responsibility.

A huge thank you to all of our students, families and staff who donated coins and supported the fundraiser. Special thanks to Brenton Jones for capturing the display with his drone footage, and congratulations to 3 Red, who won all three categories: Longest Line, Heaviest Weight and Highest Monetary Value! πŸ’°

πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί Year 5 Canberra Excursion – Day 1 πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

What a fantastic first day on Wednesday for our Year 5 students! After an early start and smooth trip to Canberra, students packed plenty into Day 1.

We began with the ANZAC Parade walk, reflecting on the service and sacrifice of Australians throughout history. Students then visited Parliament House, where they learned about government and asked local MP Andrew Gee some very tough questions! πŸ‘€

After travelling along Embassy Drive, we finished the day at the Museum of Australian Democracy where students explored the original chambers and discovered the old Senate and House of Representatives.

Students have represented our school beautifully with excellent behaviour, curiosity and enthusiasm all day. We are very proud of them! πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί
