Very disappointed to learn about the potential fate of trees in Anson street Orange NSW.
My opinion relating to the community stand at 1pm tomorrow.
I won’t be in Orange tomorrow otherwise would have been there.
I saw what happened in post office lane and condemned that decision. No trees replaced there.
Leave the trees in place and use the money that was going to be used to take them down to cut into the gutter system making it bigger, reduce the cement levels where the short uneven section is and build the wooden platforms that sit above the uneven root system as a social space. After all a mall is meant to be there for public use and socialisation. Increase parking to another level or two in Woolworths car park.
Turn Anson street into a shared space area between Summer and Kite street. There’s been a lot of work and development supporting shared space areas.
Leave the trees alone!
They provide shade, temperature control, oxygen, mulch, accomodation for birds and animals and a pleasing environment for the human eye and mind.
Very attractive also for visitors to Orange which is highlighted when showing Orange off for tourism.
Just saying!
